Yeah, makes sense. Universal, with the terrific WDW expansions looming in the near future, can't afford to fall behind. I think they greatly overestimated what Epic would do, never expected the capacity and constant breakdown issues, and now they have to readjust their game plan. They spent a ton of money on Epic and their market share didn't increase much, if at all. They probably took some United Sea World business, but WDW stayed strong.

I think it’s a fair stopgap. Especially if they’re going to revamp San Fran one day. No idea what would fit that space well.

I’d like a Great Movie Ride as a stopgap instead, but I don’t sign the paychecks.

If they end up doing that I doubt it'd be a stopgap, that has potential to be an attraction that lasts for a very long time with updates made along the way

That could be the sort of addition that along with a new land would really help solidify USF as a worthy part of the lineup

Also, the rumor is the screen tunnel is being upgraded from projections to LED. That’s more investment than I was expecting to be honest.

Oooo that’s a good sign! This tells me there could be practical effects in the 360 room! If they weren’t going to do that, why else would they need to upgrade to LED? If they left it as is, they wouldn’t need to worry about projections conflicting with the practical.

If they can get the screen tunnel up to par with the screens of Bourne and Monsters Unchained - along with a few practical set pieces/props and some heavy wind and water effects..

I think this could be much better than people are expecting.

Yea, that’s my hope. LED has finally allowed for physical sets and practical moving elements to be blended with screens on rides.

Now the question is, is this only for Hollywood’s tram tour, or are we really also getting it in Orlando too?

We're gonna end up with a Vin Diesel M+G in that space instead.

And then we find out the tiny drone is family.

We'll be wishing for a Twisters re-theme at that point (or that Supercharged just comes back)

Have now had the idea of an end of night drone show in the park with lots of Vin Diesels hanging from them all enter my head, a thought which frankly I find terrifying

It's gonna be both. It makes too much sense from a budget standpoint.

Under discussed aspect: resources. There’s only so many engineers, designers, etc even with outsourcing.

To me, and only my interpretation, but it felt like the current options on the table were quick retheme or let it sit empty for years.

I imagine they could replace all of San Francisco someday when they’re ready to really make a move here, but they have so much to do that’s more pressing, this feels like a quick fix. And keeps ride capacity in Studios even after having to close this when Hollywood Drift opens.

Also, the rumor is the screen tunnel is being upgraded from projections to LED. That’s more investment than I was expecting to be honest.

Just a couple thoughts: Probably the reasons they're not going to let it sit and rot. *Competition. All those WDW Disney terrific expansions popping up in the near future. *Cutting costs with a Hollywood twofer. I'm guessing the film production is the primary cost *Something happening with Springfield in 2028, or 2030 if there's a brief contract extension. They'll need capacity.

The more I think of this, the better feel I have for it. I never thought they'd gut the building since its relatively new. The ride system is fine with me, since it works well with Kong, that is a better and more creative production. The main problems with Supercharged were the poor quality film and it just didn't work well with the IP expectations/story. As I've said before, the big 'if' for the ride would be blending in a lot of physical/practical sets and effects. There's plenty space to do that. Tornadoes are a universal theme, so it's really not important whether guests have seen, or liked, the movie.

Bottom line. A Twister attraction isn't going to get a lot of people to change vacation plans, but it could help to keep people in the park. Plus, it would be 'indoors' and air conditioned. That's a plus. It could be a 'Fun' attraction, if done with a bit of creativity. Pokemon will bring in the vacation plans. Though it will be in IOA, that helps USF too, since 80% of all tickets sold are IOA/USF park hoppers. I always look at the North Campus as one giant park, which for all intents and purposes, is what it is. When it rains, and most of the outdoor rides are shut down, the mass exodus to USF happens. And the Events at USF siphon guests to IOA too. There's a reason there's so often long lines for the Hogwarts Express, both ways

One big plus of the ride system is that it's proven good capacity, especially if they use the double buses like they did when Supercharged first opened. That's something to be mindful of.

One advantage of a Twisters attraction is that it's easy to understand the concept even if you haven't watched the movies.

I threw up in my pants when I read a projection tunnel could become a led tunnel...
How about no more screenzzz for a decade or 5.
Put the projection tunnel in storage as one day Kong needs a new one.

One thing that occurred to me about this being a screen-based attraction: Twisters in 4DX seemed like a genuine phenomenon. My wife and I somehow, separately both had people bring up Twisters 4DX to us at work last week, 2 years after it came out.

People clearly yearn for screen + bumpy seat + wind.

I've never had an issue with 'screenz' or the 360 tunnel system itself. I liked Kong (when it was in 3D anyway). Twisters done right (real 4D effects, realistic visuals vs cartoonish video game graphics) would be a very fun attraction.

Can confirm, it was VERY aggressive and I loved every second of it
