The heat on this thread is ridiculous! I just want to go back to the days where we used to talk about kitties and rainbows and butterflies!

I am neutral on this whole Potter expansion debate. I don't really care whether it does or doesn't happen. But, I do think Universal needs to continue expanding their resort in some way. No more replacing attractions. The only attraction that should be replaced is Fear Factor (and I don't mind if Sinbad and Poseidon are removed). They also NEED to refurbish so many attractions (such as Hulk)

As others have stated, this is not true.

Original SpaceShip Earth, Kitchen Karabet, Horizons, World of Motion, Wonders of Life, Living Seas, CommuniCore, original Journey into Imagination, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Timekeeper, original Tiki Room, Main Street when it wasn't infested with stores, 20K, Skyway, when DHS was an actual studio, and several others

^These are all things that were special to the childhoods of many people, and Disney did away with them.

The Wizarding World is strictly based off details from the movies, not the books.

Actually, the Three Broomsticks in the parks was solely based off of the books, seeing as it was built before they built the one in the movie...

And there are many "book-only" details in the park, such as sneakoscopes (which were never in the movies), among other products that were only mentioned in the books. It is a combination of visual faith to the movies and detailed faith for the books...

I'm not going to get involved in the debate until we see some definite "Yes" or "No" answers, because honestly, it's gotten very heated and it seems some people have gotten a bit upset. Heck I just got through reading an administrator announcement about one post that was rude....

The way I see it, we're both dead set on what we believe, whether we like it or not, and whatever facts each side has is overlooked by the opposing side because we can not get past our views... The whole argument has gone no where, because, as pointed out, none of us has any insider knowledge... And those who do have been so secretive (lets face it - they have to be...) that the details of what might be actually going on are not privy to us, although we have gotten somewhat of a confirmation from Teebin that, yes, there will be an expansion of sorts, how big, none of us knows yet. But it seems that there will be one...
I'll actually contradict myself here and say that I will post in here again, if only for the entertainment value xD...

I really don't understand the logic of how you think this answer means "no expansion". It's a very common business-politics answer. When you have an exciting new product, you don't refer to an improvement to the product coming down the line. It just doesn't make business sense.

Know why I haven't bought an iPad yet? Because it was 1st generation, and I know Apple will make 2nd generation that much better (and probably slightly cheaper). Has Apple referred to an upgraded iPad? Of course not. Will it happen? You betcha. And if Steve Jobs was asked in an interview at the iPad launch: "When can we expect an improved iPad 2?" His smart-business answer would be: "We have no plans at this time for an upgrade on the iPad. This is the best it gets folks, get yours now".

And how about if the president of Honda said: "The 2011 Civic is the best Civic ever made! But if you wait 12 months, the 2012 will be even better!" Of course not, he wants to sell as many 2011's as possible to fund the 2012.

Sorry, buddy. While the majority of the island may be based on the visuals of the movies, it's based on the books and movies. Basically, if you didn't see it in the movies, it's interpreted from the books.

they could put in diagon alley from in front of posiden going behind sinbad and move
the wand shop to diagon alley with more wand show rooms and more themed que area for it(the current que was an afterthought )
When you have long lines to get in shops (or even purchase butterbeer) you are turning some customers away with money to spend
So i expect any expansion will have more shops than attractions and those will be designed to handle more people.

I agree 100%. Total political deflection style answer and it makes perfect business sense to give it. It provides absolutely no insight into whether expansion could/would ever happen.

I also don't think the video completely rules out Diagon Alley. They just basically said Diagon Alley alone wouldn't have given the best, most immersive stand alone experience. Of course Hogwarts, and by extension Hogsmeade, was their best choice for a stand alone land. That doesn't mean that adding Diagon Alley to what currently exists wouldn't add value to the WW.

Also, if anyone cares to notice, later on in the video (I think around 5:19) they decline to give up the secret code names they used to refer to WW back when it was in development. Which may very well mean they still have reason to keep things on the down low, as in perhaps there is still more potential developing down the line to be kept top secret. If WW were going to remain unchanged for evermore why would they have a problem with telling people what the code name was(/is)? Even the Secret Service gives up code names for former presidents when they have no more use for them. In fact I think they like to show off how clever they were with the code names they came up with.

Also, someone earlier said that HP fans would NOT be okay with Diagon Alley as part of any possible expansion. That might be true for that particular HP fan, but this HP fan would be more than okay with it. I'd also be great with the Forbidden Forrest, or the Black Lake, or the Burrow, or The Ministry of Magic, or #4 Privet Drive for that matter. I don't care what they decide to add (if/when they do), I just want more, more, MORE! I can't get enough Harry Potter. And as long as whatever they make lives up to the quality and detail of what they currently have, I for one will be wetting myself to get back there the second it opens.

Instead of carrying on with a debate about will they/won't they (which will not be resolved anytime in the next couple of years at the very least) my vote is with several of the others here who would prefer to move on to the more enjoyable discussion of what your dream expansion would include if they did. Anyone? :look:

Honestly maybe (and I emphasize maybe, because I think DA will be what is built) it will be a little difficult to sell Jo on it. But if anyone can do it, UC can(and will, IMO).

But I find it hard to believe the fans won't approve, save for the most unrealistic ones, and they're people that can almost never be pleased. I'm a ridiculously huge fan, and I pray it's Diagon Alley. I can't wait to have Florean Fortescue's, Gringotts, etc.

They did HOGWARTS in a way fans approve of. Why would Diagon Alley be more difficult than that? Sure Hogwarts doesn't have the the great hall, or Harry's four poster bed, and I can't walk right up to Dumbledore's desk and play with his post-it notes, but they still gave me more of Hogwarts than I ever had before and I am so grateful for that. I would take whatever legitimate interpretation of Diagon Alley they had to offer. Diagon Alley could potentially provide another restaurant with The Leaky Cauldron, as well as more shops (Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes-- which would help with Zonko's congestion), and even a robe shop to put all of the clothing related merchandise into.

It wouldn't have to be all Diagon Alley either. Maybe an ode to Diagon Alley with some other things thrown in? Poseidon's Adventure would make a kick-a$$ platform for something along the lines of the horcrux cave, or even better the battle between Dumbledore and Voldemort in the Ministry of Magic where D is flinging around the water from the fountain and V is conjuring up the flames. I would pay just to see that alone if they did it right.

I wasn't talking about all of DA being difficult to please HP fans. I'm talking about making it realistic to have DA and hogsmeade right next to eachother. The two arent in the same country let alone within a few feet of eachother. They will need to make it so you can not see one from the other, and a plausible transition between the two. Not only that, but many people would consider the two too similar. Now can we just stop talking about it please?

I'd much rather discuss the contents of a possible expansion also.
Personally I think that anything that they may add will be great if the current WW is anything to go by, I'm up for a Gringotts coaster of some sort or if we're talking about a smaller expansion I'd love to see some sort of magical creature encounter.
