I really don't understand the logic of how you think this answer means "no expansion". It's a very common business-politics answer. When you have an exciting new product, you don't refer to an improvement to the product coming down the line. It just doesn't make business sense.
Know why I haven't bought an iPad yet? Because it was 1st generation, and I know Apple will make 2nd generation that much better (and probably slightly cheaper). Has Apple referred to an upgraded iPad? Of course not. Will it happen? You betcha. And if Steve Jobs was asked in an interview at the iPad launch: "When can we expect an improved iPad 2?" His smart-business answer would be: "We have no plans at this time for an upgrade on the iPad. This is the best it gets folks, get yours now".
And how about if the president of Honda said: "The 2011 Civic is the best Civic ever made! But if you wait 12 months, the 2012 will be even better!" Of course not, he wants to sell as many 2011's as possible to fund the 2012.
I agree 100%. Total political deflection style answer and it makes perfect business sense to give it. It provides absolutely no insight into whether expansion could/would ever happen.
I also don't think the video completely rules out Diagon Alley. They just basically said Diagon Alley alone wouldn't have given the best, most immersive stand alone experience. Of course Hogwarts, and by extension Hogsmeade, was their best choice for a stand alone land. That doesn't mean that adding Diagon Alley to what currently exists wouldn't add value to the WW.
Also, if anyone cares to notice, later on in the video (I think around 5:19) they decline to give up the secret code names they used to refer to WW back when it was in development. Which may very well mean they still have reason to keep things on the down low, as in perhaps there is still more potential developing down the line to be kept top secret. If WW were going to remain unchanged for evermore why would they have a problem with telling people what the code name was(/is)? Even the Secret Service gives up code names for former presidents when they have no more use for them. In fact I think they like to show off how clever they were with the code names they came up with.
Also, someone earlier said that HP fans would NOT be okay with Diagon Alley as part of any possible expansion. That might be true for that particular HP fan, but this HP fan would be more than okay with it. I'd also be great with the Forbidden Forrest, or the Black Lake, or the Burrow, or The Ministry of Magic, or #4 Privet Drive for that matter. I don't care what they decide to add (if/when they do), I just want more, more, MORE! I can't get enough Harry Potter. And as long as whatever they make lives up to the quality and detail of what they currently have, I for one will be wetting myself to get back there the second it opens.
Instead of carrying on with a debate about will they/won't they (which will not be resolved anytime in the next couple of years at the very least) my vote is with several of the others here who would prefer to move on to the more enjoyable discussion of what your dream expansion would include if they did. Anyone? :look:
