I will honestly be surprised if this lasts 5 years. the idea that bowling is a "luxury" experience is a bad one. The majority of people that do bowl on a regular basis would balk at the prices. How many people that aren't into bowling, will really pay tons of money to bowl in the first place.

This just seems like a big fail to me.

I can only speak from experience, but I have a place similar to it near me. Of course, it's cheaper and smaller than this, but it does really well, and I go there often with friends.

The problem is, this isn't something I want to do on vacation.

Have they released rates yet? I can see it doing fairly well at a location like DTD. There is a similar one at Citywalk in Hollywood, anyone know how that one does?

There is one in Miami also, not a place I want to drive that far to go see but if it was closer I would check it out. Its like going to see a movie while on vacation, its just something I can do at home.

I mean this isn't something Disney came up with. It's a franchise they brought in. Not proof it won't fail, but the idea obviously has worked before.

I think the real question is how much it feels like a nightclub--as hinted at/promised--and how much it feels like "just a bowling alley" (but one with nice food). There's a pent-up demand for nightlife, but I don't know if this will fit that bill.

I dont think this will fit that bill at all. I would compare it to a place like Dave and Busters except with the added bowling aspect.

You'd be surprised. There's a similar "fancy" bowling alley (as I call it) in downtown Toronto and you have to make reservations in advance to get it... I could see myself going there after a day at the parks if I was visiting Orlando with friends. Plus when I'm on vacation my tolerance for overpaying seems to be at a high... :look:

Pic from earlier today! OU can use this as their own.

Btw, up close in some construction spots, it really doesn't look ready for early December... Hm. :/

you know, if this fails Disney could just take it over and run it themselves at a cheaper price point...

Here's a new preview video, but it's mostly footage of their other locations and the concept art.

High end bowling is all the rage these days. Lucky Strike is a very successfull Luxury Bowling Alley. I am not very concerned about the success of this place.

Looks nice, but there's no way they have it ready in two weeks for opening. That little "lobby" area off to the right still has a few days before they even consider putting up the glass. I watched a new building go up at one of the colleges I've attended right outside my dorm window, and the exterior was a lot of that kind of glass work. It didn't go very fast at all, and they were clearly trying to get it up fast (had a next semester deadline, towards the end of the prior semester).

I'd like to be proven wrong, because I'd gladly pay the premium to bowl here as opposed to driving up to I-Drive over by the Pirates dinner show (DTD is closer for me), but I just don't see it.

CFNews13 will be inside Splitsville for the early AM show on Dec. 7th.

I'll try and get some stills.

I was here last week, I must say they are doing a great job. Looks to be a hit when it opens.
