Why? He's lead plenty of high profile and successful projects. Remember, while they missed several internal deadlines they haven't missed their only official date released so far: summer 2016.

The real question is... where is that USA Today video/article?

Probably this week. They're probably working with UOR on a media push so it'll go up on a certain date.

It's possible they're pulling randomly, it's not unprecedented in theme parks. Just don't have confirmation on it.

Bollocks, the King AA went berserk and destroyed some of the RV. They had to put Kong in B mode (basically switching of the AI chip), a team member almost died because of this because HAL would not open the pod bay doors. The ride now works, but they need more RVs to replace the ones Kong destroyed.

Would not be surprised if their research and/or operations/Creative team is randomly selecting guests to go through the attraction. That's actually not that uncommon (I'd say rather normal), but finding out about it quickly is a little more uncommon.

Soarin did something similar. They would come out the Imagination gate and put up a sign that Soarin was testing and then take people backstage to enter the theater directly. There was definitely enough social media at the time that people knew to start forming lines by that gate.

Walls don't have to come down for soft openings. In fact leaving walls up can make it easier to open and close as needed for testing.

Probably. It makes sense if they do that as it could probably violate a NDA if they place the guests with one.
