So even with the 3rd track it is hard to get fast passes. We are going June 5th just in the evening to catch the fireworks before they change and none are available. Hopefully with standby using two full tracks on their own that the standby line won't be as long. I would think there would be more fast passes available though.

Adding a third track was never going to truly make it much easier to get FPs. The main thing that the 3rd track is meant to try and do is lower the overall wait time by increasing capacity.

You know what I am an idiot. I guess I wasn't awake yet when I saw this post this morning. We had two tracks before that probably 2/3 was fast pass, now it will be all standby for those two tracks and FP will be one track, actually lowering the number of fast passes, DUH! I think before I thought that the one track would be stand by and the 2 would be FP, but it is the opposite. Did I mention I am not a morning person?

I do think we should wait until Friday when this opens officially to see what it ends up being. They could well still be testing what works best. From what I heard, walls aren't even down in the queue yet. They are still having people go in through the construction door.

Granted it is a Tuesday, but Stand-by was 25 minutes at around 10:45 per the pics.

Wow, that is amazing. I was at the parks during a slow period with my friends and that thing never dropped below 55 minutes. We never had issues riding anything we wanted with low to no waits their whole vacation except this and Mine Train. If this sticks, this is going to be a huge win for DHS. Now if only they had started the other projects a year ago so they would be finished with TSL next year and not in 2018.

I went to the link. So the merge point is where it is separated out. This is not what I was thinking would happen. So it is actually 3 tracks used between fast pass and stand by. Not sure if they increased FP or left them alone. I imagine for this "soft" opening the FP numbers are the same as they were before the 3rd track. It will be interesting to see if Stand by stay this low or if they increase FP which would increase stand by waits. But this 3rd track sure seems to have the impact they wanted. This is a huge improvement as I have never seen a 25 minute wait on this thing before and they say it was actually lower than 25 minutes.

Yeah, not where I pictured the merge being either.

And this is definitely a good sign to start off with at least. Now once TSL and SWL open up (with both SWL rides expected to have high capacity), I have to wonder where that puts waits for this. Do we start seeing short wait times for this ride on an every day basis?

I think it depends on the height requirements of the rides coming out. If some are little to no height restriction I can see these wait times going down even more. The problem with this ride is that it is one of the very few rides in DHS with no height restriction and it is the BEST ride that has no height restriction since the only other one is the Great Movie Ride. It is why I think TSL was needed as much as people here are not into it. DHS has a lack of rides in general, but they really have a lack of rides that the whole family can enjoy. This park was built for the thrill crowd, but I don't think that works for Disney too well.

It'll be interesting what the wait times hold at for Memorial Day weekend coming up.

If 2/3 of the 2 tracks were being used for FP+ and you keep the same proportion, but add an additional track, then it breaks down to 1 track for standby and 2 for FP+.

According to @Marni1971, he insists he's hearing that the original 2 tracks are where FP+ is being sent and stand-by is the only ones going to track 3 if i'm understanding him correct. It would make sense and i'm inclined to believe him.

WDWNT said guests are being sent to all three.

That's what I had originally read back when they were starting construction. Two lines for FP, one for stand by. That would meet the percentages they try to maintain on their other attractions that are usually in the range of 70% (give or take a few depending on the ride) FP for their other WDW attractions.

Ah, was it in the article? And I guess not surprised... FP is supposed to have the "right of way" if you will. It makes sense to send them wherever is fastest.

I'd imagine that the queue distribution will completely change once the park has other rides. I would think that 75%+ of all FPs in DHS are for Toy Story Mania. Minimally.

I only waited 10 minutes for Midway Mania in DCA. But that's because since it opened, they've also added Cars Land, Little Mermaid, World of Color, etc. And DHS has added..?

Yes, originally I heard 2 were FP and 1 standby which is why I thought FPs would be easier to get. However, it sounds like while that may still be true, instead of single lines, they are mixing everyone up. Which makes sense since if you get a lull in FPs you don't want a ride to sit empty while you have a long standby line.

And guests with wheelchairs need to go to the old station regardless of if they have Fastpass.

The old ratio for FP distribution at Toy was minimum 80% but could be as high as 85 or 90% on some days.

The ride itself was extremely low capacity. 1087 was like the theoretical capacity - but never reached, more like 800-900 guests per hour.

Which is why the 3rd track was desperately needed.

When the line for Fastpass return was out in Pixar courtyard due to a downtime or whatever, at the merge point CMs would be doing 100:1 for the ratio.

100 Fastpass guests for every 1 standby guest.

For Fastpass line backed up but not outside the building yet the ratio was 10:1.

And lol - I was going to tell you the two lower ratios (the ratio goes up as the Fastpass line backs up) but they were used so rarely I don't remember them. Something like standby party size times 4 plus 10 and standby party size times 4. They were never used.
