@Galaxy Defender I'm leaving for orlando in an hour and I just want to double check my kong POA for this weekend..

Basically just make sure I'm there for early park access opening and then go wait by Jurassic Park exit of Hogsmeade until they drop the rope for kong right?

Early access will get you multiple rides before the queue builds up. Not so sure about which side for early access. I was not staying onsite so I entered with the masses. Have fun!

Without giving away too much (I'm going in one week :) so don't want too many spoilers), is the 360 video part a "daytime" video and does that make riding at night seem weird, especially with an actual drive outside at night?

I've always figured that the ride would be so much better at night, but just wondering about that one part.

Much of the indoor portion is set in caves so it doesn't matter whether it's day or night. The jungle portions are obviously day but it's not that bright and you don't see the sky so I don't really feel it's a big deal.

Early park access right now, TM's are making sure you know at the Jurassic Park exit of Hogsmeade that you're waiting til close to park opening for Skull Island. They start the line just pass the gates by the churro stand. Post pictures later, not working from phone. I got in line at 8:10 and there's about 40-50 ppl ahead of me

Initial line from Hogsmeade was stopped just past the Jurassic Park gates, every so often they would move the line 100 yards up to make room for 100 yards more worth of line.

6 minutes and 30 seconds ride time this morning

IMG_8621.PNG

I'm not sure what parts count as a full load cycle, but here's what the laps were:
  • Lap 1: started when gates opened to let riders into vehicle, stopped when truck was dispatched
  • Lap 2: started when first truck dispatched, stopped when gate opened to let us in to next RV
  • Lap 3: started when gate opened to let us in, stopped when truck was dispatched
  • Lap 4: RIDE TIME from ride dispatch (started moving), to ride ending (stopped when RV came to a complete stop, a few seconds before they opened to door to let us out). We had to wait about 15 seconds once we got passed the animatronic before the unload room which may have added the extra ride time.

Yes, the ride seems short but that's because it was AWESOME! Sat in the second to last row, left 2 seats. HOLY CRAP THAT ANIMATRONIC IS AMAZING, especially when Kong roars. I loved the ride, not the best ride but still.. awesome!!

Great review. Especially the time breakdown aspect. That answers a "lot" of questions. Foremost, it does appear they slowed the ride experience down (as Joe Camel reported yesterday) and it's , at the least 20 to 25 seconds longer than the original 5:50 time (not even counting the 15 seconds after the animatronic until the download stage...... A "pure genius" posting. Capacity is decent on this attraction, so the added time shouldn't cause any issues......."Ride seems short because it was AWESOME". That echoes Teebin's early comments on why really good entertainment usually seems short. The old entertainment adage, "leave them wanting more"

Wahhhhhh! Now I don't have an excuse to go up and ride again :fist: Thanks CF, I would not have done as well with the time breakdown.

Now you just need to get a ride in on Kong when you're not constantly looking at your phone.;)

Don't worry, I hate phone users on rides.. as soon as the ride started I put my phone down and didn't pick it up til the very end. Event managed to not take a picture of Kong but I have a feeling that's why you go slowly by him, great photo opportunity.

By the way I suggest taking your glasses off after the 360 scene, it helps you appreciate the animatronic that much more. My girlfriend first said "is that real??!" And I told her to take off the glasses, she couldn't believe it

It's looking better & better for my first Kong viewing in Sept....It seems most everything is working well, or will, by the time I get there. And now, this news that they slowed the ride down a little so you can better enjoy the beginning scenes is great. Going through those first few scenes too quickly seemed to have been one of the few ride criticisms. The more I look back, the more I'm happy that they had to delay the soft opening when I was there in May. I'd rather have the awesome first experience like Convoluted Frippery had , rather than a ride with a few issues.

I guess that's a testament to the projection quality

Told the girls next to me to take them off after 360 they liked that! Said they were glad I was on the outside before the ride so I would be the one eaten..... no sympathy for the old guy, none at all!
