Car Park is basically a UK term for Parking lot or Parking garage.

That went way over my head, I thought they were referring to a multi story garage.

There are a couple of interesting quotes from this article.

Officially, the mall’s owner Lightstone Group says it is “gauging wider interest” in the property and looks forward to “continuing to own and manage the property,” according to a statement from vice president of marketing Rick Feurman.

Michael Phillips, owner Simply Savory. "They told us that no one has bought the mall yet and they don't have anybody interested."

No offense to the vendors but they'll be the last to know.

I've thought about this and I wouldn't rule out Bass Pro themselves. it really depends on what you classify as a theme park. They expressed an interest to redevelop Mud Island in Memphis that. The stores are more attraction than retail especially Springfield and Memphis. They are about to open up a Wildlife museum/aquarium in Springfield. They own timeshare resorts and hotels there and in Memphis. They own golf courses nature parks and caves. A natural evolution would be to add water parks and rides themed up to the outdoors.

They closed a mall near me not long ago but announced the closing like 2 years before demolition. People just assumed it was closed after the announcement and no one went there anymore.

What gets me is listing the property up for sale but telling tenants they look forward to continuing to own and manage the property.

Yeah they probably shouldn't even be talking about this since they're still very much in the building growing phase of getting the mall going. Although obviously they would likely take a good offer at the drop of the hat.

My problem with this place, there are approximately 3 other major malls/shopping districts in a 10-15 minute driving distance. Is why I never saw this working unless the stores that were across the street at the old (Belz Factory Outlet) moved into What was then Festival Bay. I can't help but think the city wants to really make money off of this property and get it developed Asap? So hoping it sells to a buyer who has deep pockets to buy, construct, and manage profitably and not let it sit.

In Artegon's defense, they always kind of knew this, tried to make it more of an "entertainment mall" with non-traditional anchor stores rather than compete with other malls head-on. And Bass Pro still pulls a crowd, RonJon and the theater seem to do ok. They just never found enough interior tenants to fill in between them to make people want to wander. Steve & Barry's going bankrupt didn't help, either.

Not sure shopping and dining is a long term viable option there.

Paid attention last night, when I went to the Beer & Wine Stroll. Distance on a map doesn't convey how far this really is from Universal. That Kirman/I-Drive intersection is a mother hubbard, and so many traffic lights, so many businesses in between. I think Universal better off going with southern land if they want any sort of connective feel between their parks.

There is a lot of land under Artegon, easily on a par with old Circus World/Boardwalk & Baseball. Moderate-sized park certainly not out of the question in terms of space. Is there a market? Maybe. Artegon can pack in a locals crowd with free booze, and plenty of touristy places (mini golf, gift shops, Magical Midway) still survive in that area. With the right price point I see it working.

With the restaurants possibly going away at Crossroads Orlando could lose two Fuddruckers.

Yeah, but it'll be a lot more direct because they're building that overpass that connects Major Blvd. and Grand National. I really don't think it's likely that Universal will go after Artegon, but not because of the location.
