I still very much hope that Universal holds off on Orlando's SNW until the 3rd park is available for it.

Building Hollywood's SNW then holding off a few years until the 3rd Orlando park is ready is ideal for me.

Why?

We are very much getting the first phase of Nintendo on the site of KidZone, and construction will probably be starting very soon. It could be years (like maybe a decade) before we see movement on a new park. I can't wait that long, especially after seeing two other Studio parks enjoying their Mario Kart rides. :(

I can't see a world where Nintendo doesn't end up like Potter. There's going to be several lands throughout several parks

Universal Creative will still have Pokemon, Kirby, and Zelda (as it seems) for the fourth gate; alongside other intellectual properties including the likes of Metroid as an open possibility.

The first phase; is similar to Hogsmeade to where it's on a separate location. This phase, is similar to that in the sense; as Mario, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi are all connected as they are characters within the world that inhabits the Mushroom Kingdom, Yoshi's Island, and Donkey Kong Island.

While I see that loosened for the fourth gate, I would not say that they shouldn't bring Mario to the parks. Mario is one of the most iconic figures in pop culture, and that there is a lot of potential for the land in more ways than one.

Waiting until the third park makes 0 sense to me. I haven't heard a good reason for waiting.

Yess!! This right here is exactly the only way I seen Mario kart being just like the game! I'm convinced this will be groundbreaking now like fj!

They still have the Pokemon IP held back for another location so I don't see a huge problem with them leading with Super Mario in USF.

Mario will be taking over an extremely dated and culturally irrelevant kid's area of the park. It's a smart move considering Super Mario is in the top ten lucrative brands for ages 14 and under today. So is Pokemon actually.

Disney has Star Wars, Mickey Mouse, and Frozen in that same category, but that's it(I too was shocked that Marvel and Pixar aren't up there). Universal for all their popular brands that reach older audiences, actually have none that compete here. Nintendo though gives them two massive kid brands.

And both Mario and Pokemon have an atypically balanced gender appeal too, something that's tricky even for certain Disney brands to hit.

To me this is a "strike now while it's hot" kinda thing. The Nintendo brands are trending upward and Uni will benefit from hitting early.

In all fairness, if they do it; there is one reason that I can see it.

That being, it'd allow Universal to upscale the quality of the land currently coming into place for the Osaka and Hollywood locations, making it not only more immersive; but bringing in more technology that will make it, the penultimate version.

It's going to be groundbreaking either way, but this is going to be one of those items of interest that will set the attraction apart from the rest of Universal's offerings.

Well, when you guys put it like that, it makes more sense to me. I just think some of the Nintendo stuff needs to be in the 3rd park; if they want an initial rollout of some things in UOR I can understand that.

It's possible Zelda could have a HUGE presence in a new park. Maybe even an anchor in the back/center.

(Either that or How to Train Your Dragon could be the biggest lands in the park if you ask me.)

I see Zelda having a huge presence for the fourth gate, but; to add onto that, I think there will be more than one Nintendo property for the fourth gate, and that's also including Pokemon.

I'm still holding out hope for Pokémon at IOA first and more at the new gate. (Gotta catch em all!)

Pokemon deserves more than a replacement of a pre-existing land; on the similar level of Zelda.

Thanks for the reply. I never heard of META and found a review with quotes that don't bode well:
Meta’s augmented reality glasses look ridiculous, but they’re ridiculously comfortable - The Verge
- "...its images look less convincingly real, more like a projection than a solid object..... And even its creators admit it’s not nearly as good at tracking the world — as you walk around, objects shudder to the point of disorientation, even if they’re beautifully clear when you’re still."
- "...its 90-degree field of view..."
Pro is that they are comfortable and relatively cheap compared to other brands. Still I'm not convinced this is the way to go.

It will most likely use the Meta 2 technology which is very much more solid and has 120 degree field. Comcast is their main investor so it makes sense for Comcast to utilize their investment wisely.

Food for thought, could Comcast use a custom-made version of the technology; specifically designed in tandem with Universal Creative and Meta?

Of course ,I'm one hundred percent sure they are working on it in conjunction as well with Spaces (Mixed reality concept company that Comcast is also main investor into).

I'm not at all convinced that AR is going to happen.

Theme parks are never on the bleeding edge of technology. Ever. What theme parks excel at is taking established technology from other industries and then applying it to a theme park.

Kuka arms? Manufacturing.
Omnimovers? Assembly lines.
Pandora and it's 6/8K video (or whatever resolution it is)? Movies have been filming at this resolution for a while.
VR coasters? Virtual reality is a little more advanced than usual, but it's an established technology at this point.

Nobody is doing AR. Apple's ARKit is bleeding edge with plenty of bugs and it's the leading field so far. No theme park in the world wants to take on brand new technology research + development. AR headsets are a long ways out and Universal won't want to deal with the headaches.

It could always be like Mario and Diagon where the preexisting lands were completely demo'd.

Mario Kart will have AR glasses. I am now 100% convinced after speaking with multiple sources. I don't want to get anyone in trouble or anything, but I've never really believed it myself until now. It's happening. Personally, I'm not sure that tech is ready for prime time but I guess they're pretty confident that it'll work out, cause they're planning on it being a major element of the attraction.

EDIT: And honestly it's pretty exciting to see Universal embracing the new. When IOA opened the world was blown away by Spider-Man. Forbidden Journey was another game changer. I think this could be another one of those milestone moments.

I was really hoping there wouldn't be glasses involved in this land, but if that's what it has to be, that's what it has to be, I guess.
