Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

But they are windows... windows to another worlllldddd.

My bad, yes. This is starting to make sense lol... But, how does that work with the no costumes for adults rule at the parks? Hmmm.

Since the costumes will be provided by Disney, it will be easy for them to tell "Star Wars Hotel guests", and other plebeians.
However, I would think that wearing a costume to the park would gather much more unwanted attention from the general public. I'd never want to wear a costume to a park. Those Cosplay people get mobbed for photos all the time at comic cons.

I imagine the costumes will mostly be Jedi robes, similar to the Potter robes you see people running around UOR in all the time. Maybe you can upcharge to a Corillian pilot jacket/pants combo but I'm not expecting Disney to hand out Comic-Con level outfits. Question will be if you can bring your own.

I’m very curious how Disney is going to make this a luxury hotel. The story behind the hotel is that you’re working on the crew of a spaceship, correct?

That doesn’t scream luxury. Seems like the opposite.

Then there’s all of the amenity questions. Do you have a spa and what does a space spa look like? Pool? Multiple restaurants? Adults only bar?

I have to assume that what we are dealing with, is a all-inclusive "experience", priced similarly to a DCL package. And that what will probably be included, while yes a pool and spa may be apart of it, I think we will see this be high in role play and interactivity to the guest experience. And that all of the food and drinks, will be custom made for the hotel, to match into Galaxies Edge, and that it will have a point similar to Castaway Cay, having exclusive time in the morning or evening, guided by groups into Galaxies Edge with live actors there already to interact with, followed by an additional night on board the "Ship" to complete the story you are already in.

With TLJ expanding the universe out a little with the casino and a higher class of people and planet, I wouldn't be surprised to see something alluding to this hotel in a film, even if it is just a completely throw away line.

I would almost guarantee it's an early admission day (or evening). Just the park guests for an hour in the morning before other guests arrive after they "land" there. I'll bet its executed perfectly.

The fake windows are really no big deal. I think you'll be inside running around so much it won't bother you at all- think cruise ship- but your deck time is in SWL. 2 days is nothing.

I'll never do this, but it's a brilliant idea - and from what little we know about it, it sounds very smart.

From a marketing perspective- it could hurt Potter. In fact, I'm helping a friend plan a 2 day trip to universal before her Disney trip (they go to Disney all the time)- but have never done Uni- now they are going "for potter" like so many others from Disney do. Family of 4 for 1 or 2 day park hoppers and a night at royal pacific- will be pretty closely priced to this hotel. In the ignorant eyes of those who have never been to Universal, and just want "potter"- they will think "potter or star wars? Same price". That's a smart move.
Don't get me wrong, Uni will be fine, but I assure you that will be an argument you hear on some DIS boards quite a bit.
I think you are highly undervaluing what this place will cost. Im thinking a family of 4 will easily be 3k+ for only two nights in a hotel.

Obviously this can only be speculation, but I assume one main restaurant that also houses show elements. One of the few times you could have all guests in one place to move the plot forward. Maybe a snack bar/"galley" elsewhere.

I doubt very much there will be a spa. Who knows about a pool. The space pool would actually be the most interesting thing to me. But if you're paying a couple grand to be a Star Warrior, maybe pool time isn't high on your priority list.

I would think this would be more expensive than a DCL cruise. Disney prices their cruises to fill up 4(?) cruise ships daily. They want to price this to fill one small hotel daily. Otherwise, I think the Castaway Cay parallel seems pretty reasonable.

That seems to match most of the other Deluxe hotels. One flagship restaurant, a counter service and maybe a more casual sit-down restaurant.

I only bring up the spa because many of the Deluxe Disney hotels have spas. I would think the hotel would have a pool just because people need lots of things to do. They basically have to build a hotel to keep people entertained for 48 hours straight. If I'm spending thousands of dollars a day to stay at this hotel, I'm not leaving unless I absolutely have to. They'll need cool, exclusive activities in SWL to get me to leave the hotel.

I suppose. I just priced out the Hard Rock in April and it's $2,500 for 2 nights w/ 4 - 2 day park hoppers and a 2 day dining plan.

So like I said, I don't think it's going to be that different. We'll know when the pricing comes out, of course.

You and I know the value of Universal for 2 nights would be definitively more than 2 nights at SWL- but I'm just looking at it from their marketing. Again, I guarantee you if you pop over to DIS- there will be a debate about how you should just do SW instead of HP because they're they same price.

If anyone is thinking there isn't a part of this that is going to aim to stop certain affluent families from hopping over to "see harry potter"- then I will just agree with disagree.

Most adults love the pool because it keeps their kids busy while they actually relax. Indoor pools are not as relaxing as outdoor pools (in my experience).

I'd also imagine most adults that can afford this, will only be doing this for their kids, and won't want to dress up out of their high end clothes, to put on Star Wars scrubs.

They may even leave the kids alone to go "experience" Star Wars while they trade stocks or make million dollar deals on their laptops.

You are thinking way too much. Getting 4 2day tickets and dining plan for 2500 compared to an interactive hotel stay for 3k+ for only two days isn’t preventing anyone from going to universal. If it costs as much as I think most families have little chance at affording it.

The one I mentioned for Epcot was a real thing. No IP. Not sure if it's still happening or not though.

Do you mean more the all-inclusive aspect? Because I could see that working, although a hotel outside EPCOT and its restaurants seems an odd choice for that as well.

This was something I heard from Martin. I'm not sure if it's still planned for the hotel going there, but there was a plan for a hotel with the same "cruise ship feel". Whether they went forward with that or not is unclear to me.
