It's unfortunate that Lowes has a contract with whatever donut shop already. I can imagine walking into our Sapphire Suite for HHN this year and on the dining table waiting for us is a COFFIN full of donuts. How appropriate

I haven't heard much about how the donuts taste? I have had a lot of friends go down to Portland to the original and stand in the long line, and always said they were overhyped. Look cool, but not amazing. We have some incredible local donuts up where I live.

This place is such a home run for Citywalk.

I've bought two dozen since they opened, they're delicious and the prices are actually perfectly suitable for what you get.

(Also, the service was top notch! Very smooth operation there.)

@SeventyOne said the cake donuts were best with several stand out exceptional items, some ok ones, and the voodoo signature donut is not good. correct me if wrong.

give it time, those prices aren't staying that low for long.

I believe they remained low in Hollywood's CityWalk (surprisingly.)

Orlando is a different beast. Breakfast for a family of 4 for under $10 isn't going to last.

I’ve heard mixed reviews, seems like those who were expecting something amazing were disappointed and those who had no expectations found them to be good. I’m guessing they’re going to be good but not as good as Lard Lad/Donut King. For the price though I can’t wait to try a few and the variety is really nice.

As long as they got a deal on the lease then they can keep the prices low but if this is a loss leader soft opening to get positive word of mouth they can pay for with the ad budget, then they have the new menus printed and ready to hang up.

I don’t think they have to pay a lease since it’s Universal operating it, of course I’m sure they factor that potential lease value into the equation somehow though. If the prices have stayed relatively the same in Hollywood I would expect the same here. To me one of the big appeal factors is the value, and if they raise the prices it’ll probably be a one time thing for me. Seeing as how the lines have already started to diminish I think they’re at just the right price point.

Actually yeast rings > cake donuts (which are fine, but really depend on the topping ) > Voodoo doll. The "Texas" was quite good as well, size didn't affect it.

The dozens are pre-selected. I'd go with the higher end all yeast ring one, if you're looking for a good sampling. But nothing I tried was bad, and at $2ish a pop, it would hard to be mad if I tried something I didn't like.

Quality local donut shops seems to be a West Coast thing--no idea on the cultural history of why. In the northeast, it's strictly Dunkin (and the slightly superior Mr. Donut until Dunkin bought them out). Plenty of local bagel shops, and smaller bagel chains, but not a lot of well-known local donut shops. In the southeast, it's all Krispy Kreme.

I'm sure there's one or two around--in fact, there's a cool one in Sarasota--but nothing like, say, Pepes and Sallys pizza in New Haven or Pats, Genos and Jims cheesesteaks in Philly.

They're fine donuts. When people asked my opinion, my response has been "Not as overrated, but also a little overhyped". It's a solid donut, though. I mean..... it's a donut after all.

They are what they are, though: unapologetic, overindulgent food porn. And that's ok.

PS I liked the Voodoo Doll - but I'm a sucker for Raspberry so.....

Only thing without any value is the coffin. You're paying half for the coffin alone. The Box of Dozen and single orders are extremely reasonable for theme park treats. They'd be stupid to jack it up more than necessary.

I didn't have any raspberry in mine, so maybe it was a dud? I'll probably try one again whenever line dips below 20 minutes.

Yeah, probably a case of Soft Opening blues. They are all supposed to be stuffed with raspberry jelly.

I compare them to the Toothsome shakes...It's more of an experience food...At the end of the day PDQ and Shake Shack have better milkshakes, but the Toothsome ones have an experience attached to them
