With regards to the "changes" I'm pretty sure we are going to see a significant shifting of the timeline for the park.

In fairness, how many properties are SW or HP level? Nintendo will be, but aside from that? JP and Monsters are the closest I can think of, but even those probably aren’t “single-handedly get people to plan a vacation“ like those first three are.

Right, which is why I wouldn't base lands off a single property. I don't really consider Monsters, at least as it will seemingly be presented at EU as an IP. More of an original concept inspired by an IP. Plus the land might eventually have 2 different feels with the Creature miniland and ride. Whereas Dragons is kind of baked into being all one thing and one feel. I also really wouldn't consider Nintendo land as one IP. Mario, Yoshi, and DK are all related, but the DK area will feel very different than the Mushroom Kingdom one.

Eh... Dragons and Vikings are pretty safe themes beyond an IP. And the ride selection feels like a pretty safe collection of “narrative-free” experiences that fit “dragons” (coaster and sky flyer) and “vikings” (water battle) with no need of additional context. Throw in the show, which will survive on scale, and HTTZDRAGON would serve as a safe, accessible, land despite the IP.

Honestly, it’s the MOST accessible Dreamworks IP. As much as I want KFP, it’s a very character-driven IP which limits its shelf-life. But it has a killer aesthetic. Trolls is a little bit better because music last, but the look is somewhat ho-hum.

I agree that out of the DreamWorks properties, it's the safest bet to base a whole land off of for sure. I just think it's a bit overly limiting for a park that just seems to be too hemmed in with its IP choices to go with a single DreamWorks property. But there is a good deal of expansion space, so hopefully down (way down) the line they fix that deficiency

While I have voiced my opinion on this matter (spoiler: I’m in favor), would they really do it? What would they replace it with, Zelda? Pokemon?

As much as I like Shrek 4D (Don't @ me), I've always been disappointed by the lack of Shrek in the parks.

Something like Far Far Away land was made to be a theme park land while also allowing to poke fun at Disney.

Pokemon and LoTR would do well to replace that of Potter and Mario. Two major IP's that have audiences to garner interest quite easily.

There's a difference between poking fun and mocking.

On the cost of the park, I think this tweet sums up why things are more expensive now compared to when IOA opened for example.



The level of detail getting pumped into every nook and cranny has dramatically increased over the last two decades with it ramping up even more since Potter opened.

Universal's Mystic Worlds Theme Park: Panda, UCM, Zelda, LotR.

Zelda and LotR feel too similar, aesthetically. They’re both sword and shield fantasies, filled with castles and monsters. Shoot, Link and Legolas are near interchangeable to a someone casually aware of the IPs. I also don’t think this line-up has enough “whimsy.” UCM is the land with the most universally ubiquitous characters...

Either nest Scooby Doo’s Haunted Carnival in with UCM, or add a Despicable Me land.

EDIT - And I prefer “Mystic Worlds” (or “Mythic Worlds”) way more than EU.

I think I’m just gonna refrain from commenting on these threads as I clearly confuse rumors/inside info/speculation from these forums in my posts, and I certainly don’t intentionally try and state things as facts as I may have so with all the changes that will or won’t come I don’t want to be confusing peeps lol

As far as speculation vs rumor. I think many, if not most, rumors start out as guesses, so there's not much difference. I try to find the source of rumors whenever possible, and clarify if I think they started as a guess is all.

Sorry, I've just been taking the opportunity to share the updated versions of what I've heard for each rumor as you mention them. Nintendo hotel definitely was a rumor. Either it fell through, or was never true. Either way, that was my first time clarifying new details.

Oh gosh, please don’t apologize! I appreciate it when I’m clarified, I just think I am perosnally getting all confused and wrapped up in it all haha, nor do I want all my posts to have to be corrected and derail things haha. I think I’ll refrain from specifics until we ALL hear and learn more, lots to keep track of haha. Especially if any re-designs or changes are happening I like, genuinely don’t want to add confusion haha. I’ll keep my guesses to the UC creative thread especially when like we’re in the height of these kind of discussions.
