I figure both would be pretty popular among the horror fans and less so among the general population. I feel like both will also be equally received, so long as they find that work around to the Season of the Witch thing we discussed in previous posts to the forum.

I don't necessarily think that Universal would opt to exclude Michael entirely as The Shape is one of the most recognizable characters from a marketing standpoint . But if they were to do just this, I could see them circumventing heightened expectations by simply calling this (potential) maze "Season of the Witch".

It's HALLOWEEN Horror Nights and Halloween is one of the most well known horror franchises so I'd think it would be much more popular of a draw. You can say Creepshow has the Shutter series, but the latest Halloween movie did gangbusters at the box office and was very well received.

Having said that, from what I read online/heard on podcasts, Creepshow was an above average house made better by the room transitions. Usually known as "black curtain wall rooms" that people hate, I guess it did something "unique" to make the house more cohesive. I guess it did a good job of having something going room to room and people gave it high marks for that. I've never been to HHN Hollywood so I'm just regurgitating what I've heard with no real understanding.

If Halloween, Halloween II and Halloween 4 all drew the GP to HHN Orlando, it goes without saying that Halloween III* would do the same where as Creepshow probably wouldn't...especially since Stephen King won't allow the parks to mention his name in marketing. So, you're getting a George Romero non-zombie movie in marketing terms and that doesn't carry much weight and not very many people subscribe to Shutter to care about the series.

*Halloween III the motion picture did not involve Michael Myers in more than an on-TV cameo, please set expectations accordingly.

If H3 is in, they could definitely fit-in nods to Michael since the original film is shown on television in H3. They could MAYBE have him pop-out throughout the maze.

Sports teams should not be compared to horror. Apples and oranges.

The Houston Colts is an unknown team brand that existed from 1962-1965. Most fans of the sport they played probably couldn’t tell you the sport they played. People buy retro looking shirts like that because irony is popular. I have a retro “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” tee and I’ve never see the movie. I like it because it has a cool, retro design. So, if we’re talking retro branding without knowing the source, they absolutely are comparable.

There’s a ton of H3 merch floating around the web. Waxwork Records specializes in horror sound track reissues on vinyl and has pressed most of, if not all, the Halloween scores. They’ve also been selling “spiniatures” - figurines you place on the center of your turntable. H3 ones seem to be popular...

But is it popular because it’s H3, or because witches are popular, generic Halloween designs?

They’ve been selling all 3 figures - The Witch, The Pumpkin, and The Skull. I’ve watched them sell out and get restocked, along with the actual H3 soundtrack a couple times. I don’t think it’s because it’s generic Halloween decor - there’s a cult following to H3.

If we were talking about HHN pre KKFoS and TrT, I’d be more inclined to say it’s not popular enough or too niche. But I think there’s enough info about this film and it’s cult favorite status for people to know MM isn’t it in before going to the event.

I also think 100% MM will be in this house, even if it’s just for one cameo if it does happen in Orlando. After all, the H3 trick or treaters made cameos in the 2014 and 2016 houses.

I think there are some other rightsholders involved, which could explain why it's been skipped over.

The transitions in Hollywood were comic book covers that were actually scrims that scareactors would jump out from behind. They got me good more than once. The thing for me that made it challenging to get into at parts is that several of the rooms were based around episodes that hadn't aired yet, so people didn't understand what they were supposed to be seeing. There was a bathtub with people covered in some sort of goo, but you couldn't tell who or what was behind it, so it got lost in translation.

It also helps that H3 still has a Carpenter score.
