I would much rather have a smooth airtime machine than a head banging screamer anyday. Either way these parks go will attract me to visit both. Its been a while since Ive been to seaworld :sneaky:

BGT 2015- Wingrider or Hyper
SW 2016- Launched Coaster, Hyper, or Wingrider.

Terrific news. This was the timeline I suspected. I have never been on a WingRider, but the reviews I've heard say they're more innovative and fun, not too ffast and intense. If so, I suspect a WingRider being a better fit at SWO back in the old Clydesdales section. While Cheetah Hunt was awesome and had 3 launches, I wouldn't exactly call it an over-the-top thrilling coaster. Which makes me believe that BGT's next big one will be a hyper.

More coasters... SeaWorld and Busch Gardens really can't come up with a GOOD family ride, huh? This makes me so sad.

As much as I would love to see a decent dark ride at BGT (most importantly, indoor with A/C), I can't blame them for focusing their ride budget on bigger thrill rides. As far as family entertainment goes, the park has the animals, Jungala, Sesame Street, and at least a few smaller rides on hand to keep families happy. Plus, families with older kids now have Cheetah Hunt as a decent bridge to the bigger rides. The park seems to do a decent enough job of keeping families happy while focusing its major capital investments on the major attractions that keep the turnstiles turning. There's no doubt that the park is no Disney when it comes to family appeal, but it seems to do well for what it is. And the reality is that their biggest draw is their coaster collection.

Busch Gardens is actually a very good park with lots for kids to do, see and experience. It's a park for everyone imo, even with all of the coasters. They have a ton of animal exhibits, shows, Sesame Street Safari of Fun, the new Madagascar show, and other areas with rides for smaller kids (Timbuktu). There's also their Christmas Town holiday event, which is explicitly marketed towards families and is a GREAT addition to their lineup. I won't say the same for Sea World because the park just doesn't interest me and neither do their shows. Manta and Kraken are great, but that's where the fun ends for me. I'm not an animal show person, which is why I enjoy BGT's shows much more.

BGT is doing a great job with everything they do of late. I can't say the same for Sea World.

Wing Riders are not all that Sorry did The Eagle one at DollyWood it is Eh Ok. I say tear down Gwazi or as it should be called Chiropractors Dream and build there version of Apollo's Chariot. If you have never ridden that air machine you are missing out on one of the best coasters there is. Cheetah Hunt is a fantastic family coaster and there is No better flying Coaster then manta period. Also sadly Kraken does not get the respect it deserves. Journey to Atlantis another un respected ride also.

Oh man if they brought a version of Apollo's Chariot I would be STOKED! The air time on that ride is exhilarating!

Even though I am bitter about the lack of a dark ride in the park, I agree with you. Busch Gardens is always adding something new. SeaWorld has messed up with Antarctica. A lot.

120 minute wait all day today and I saw Puck/penguin merchandise all over the park not to mention a long line at all times for the Antarctica restaurant. Yeah they really messed up..They may not have created the best dark ride, but the area is still doing good and drawing crowds..

Well, the 120-minute wait has nothing to do with the popularity of the ride. It has a ridiculous capacity, so that doesn't help.

I also haven't seen many buying merchandise at Antarctica. I'm sure there are some who do that, but it's not as many as I thought. All in all, they could have done something amazing, but they took a wrong turn. Maybe I set the bar too high, but I am absolutely not satisfied with the final product.

Yeah I always wondered why no dark ride? SeaWorld has 1.5 dark rides (half of Atlantis & Antarctica) so surely a dark ride or two could fit. They could even theme them to Sesame Street and Madagascar..: or come up with an original ride. Even if the new ride is cheesy, at least SeaWorld didn't use any existing IPs

Because they'll never beat Disney or Universal at their own games. SeaWorld building a dark ride down the street from Spider-Man, FJ, PotC, and HM is like Honey Boo Boo trying to win a beauty pageant against Kate Upton (sorry Honey Boo Boo, you know I still love ya though!). Antarctica completely solidifies this, and brings to life all the fears SeaWorld had of trying dark rides in the first place. They aren't going to attract visitors by offering inferior and less-marketable versions of classic and world-renowned rides--they're going to do it by offering what the big guys can't; this just happens to be animal exhibits and roller coasters. Same goes for Busch Gardens...why drive an hour away from world-class theme parks to ride a knock-off dark ride with smaller budget and no marketability? You wouldn't.

SeaWorld and Busch Gardens have plenty to do for families in the form of animal exhibits. You could spend a full day watching shows and animal habitats alone, and there is no restriction on it. The roller coasters keep the thrill-seekers happy, and there you've got a pretty well-rounded park (for what it is). I don't think SeaWorld or Busch Gardens needs to change this strategy.

If they go the Intamin prefab route, I will be very surprised, especially if it still uses a traditional wood supporting structure.
