I'd be surprised if it takes to the end of the year.

With the number of S. FL and South Amaericans that come to Orlando, a ski resort themed hotel could be a big hit.

Now this is just me being totally in dream world but I think it would be awesome if Universal build an onsite hotel themed to be a ski resort nd throw in an indoor ski slope. Sure it will never happen but one can dream right

The ski resort pictured is Vail, CO. I think a ski resort theme would be very cool. How geeky are we that are getting so excited about the theme of a hotel. But with all Uni has done over the past 4-5 years, everything they do is exciting.

While I love Vail, if they want to go really high end ski resort, I say go with a Bachelor's Gulch Ritz Carlton's design.

Any idea by when we should know what it will look like. And I think this May give a more realistic walkway to the waterpark

Ultradeluxe.... Can't wait

Theres actually a ski slope propsed for I-Drive. An outdoor, um, 'plastic' slope as part of an extreme sports parks where the old Orlando Thrill Park was proposed.

Also an indoor ski lodge was one of the proposals for Cypress Gardens. Ultimately the State of Florida went with Legoland instead.

The Egyptian resort is a nice theme but based on recent actions at Universal Creative I get the feeling most old ideas are long gone.

I'm sure whatever theme it is, it will be amazing. I wouldn't be surprised to see some convention space added to this hotel as well.

The big question is what will that state-wide casino vote th will probably sooner than later mean for these resorts?

^ Does anyone know the name of this thing?

Putting 6 tall scream machines right across from a bunch of houses front doors would be the worst idea, but an outdoor plastic ski slope does not sound consistent either.

The thrill park fell thru and no clue on the status of the sports park or the name of it. I know it was posted here on the boards when it was found so should be floating around here somewhere.

Something high end. Competitive with Waldorf, former Peabody, and main Rosen. Portofino does a good job catering to this demographic but something even better than that property would defintely be awesome. I still like the old notion of the Rosen/Peabody esque concept that was thrown around. Something nice, slightly upper scale with a lot of rooms, a club level and a lot of restaurants.

My initial reaction is this thing is going to fall through too, but like I said I don't know the details.

I doubt the I-Drive slopes will ever be realized. Here is an old story I did on them back in February, 2013 when they were first announced.

Whatever hotel it is I suspect it will be taller than the others. I personally would love to see an urban hotel built directly into CityWalk. Imagine a hotel room overlooking the lagoon, possibly located where NBA City is?...

No one wants to discuss if this new hotel will feature a casino? Genting is interested in coming to Florida (if/when casinos here pass). Genting has a relationship with Universal already. I'd love to see a Genting casino on Universal's property. You know a giant resort style casino would fit in pretty easily at the intersection of I-Drive and Universal Blvd...

I'm all for it. A classy high-end casino (if done right, like Wynn/Encore in Vegas) is something that Disney would never do and would bring more people to Uni.

More people, sure. More people that Universal wants to bring in, I'm not so sure. Casinos and theme parks cater to a pretty different audience. A casino would also distract people from going into the parks and turn off the families they've been going after. I'd be surprised to see it done. Even more importantly, I'd be surprised for them to hold off on development while waiting for a bill to maybe or maybe not pass.

There is a reason IAAPA is held in Vegas. The audiences are more shared than most want to acknowledge. A highly elegant casino would be cool and a good fit for the resort. That alienates the sweepstake people more.

Yeah, I see what you're saying. I can see it going either way. I definitely don't want endless rows of trashy people sucking on cigarettes and blowing their social security checks in a casino at UO either. But, if done right, it could be a nice addition to the resort that would make it more attractive as a destination for those in town for business conventions. Once word gets out at the Convention Center that there's a casino up the road, you know all the guys are gonna go.

Imagine if NBA City was replaced with this:

Um...the IAAPA is a convention, not a world class theme park people save thousands/travel hours to go see. Not even the same ballpark, just areas of similar interests.

It could definitely be super nice! And Im sure it would make a ton of money...Im just not sure Universal would be the one to carry it out. But I also didnt think King Kong would ever come back so who knows
