This has my vote for most interesting project of 2013. We can see almost the entire ride and yet so much is still unknown.

So I was back on park today but had the kids with me so had to actually ride the rides :D, 2 pieces of track went in, well almost anyway, and a little bit of theming work. A much smaller update from the usual but I hope you enjoy the photos non the less.

The day started with another piece of lift chain.

April20SetA_zps09eb95c4.jpg

Theming

Solar panel theming

April20Theming_zps952dfa03.jpg

New pipework

April20Theming-4_zps667bbc5a.jpg

Lift hill

A second piece of the first lift hill then went into place, chunky track this is.

First Drop

Lifting the final piece of the first drop into place, all started well

April20Drop-2_zpsb48abdcf.jpg

April20Drop-3_zpsa41db046.jpg

The first side slotted neatly into place

April20Drop-4_zps1496c74e.jpg

Just the opposite end to attach

April20Drop-5_zps2ef0d456.jpg

But then the trouble started

April20Drop-6_zps5336c15e.jpg

It just wouldn't marry up

April20Drop-7_zps26f46a55.jpg

They used various different tools and moved supports and scrathed heads to try and get it to fit.

98935dc8-7dbf-4c94-a909-7bffa9a6e574_zpsce59a9ed.jpg

Hmmm, what now?

April20Drop11_zps7abf807e.jpg

By the time I had left they were still pushin, shoving and banging trying to get the final piece of the first drop to fit. The supports are purposely not concreted in and only held in with wedges, this give them the lea way needed to adjust the supports to fit the final pieces of track into place. Although they seemed to be stuggling with yhis piece of track I am condident they would have got it in place by the time I type this. Might have to head over in the morning to see if im right

In the pic below you can see the wedges I am talking about.

So here we go with another update.

Final piece of the inverted drop

As we know yesterday they were struggling to marry up the last piece of inverted drop track. They spent most of today working on it!!!

Rogue track piece as of first thing this morning

April21Roguetrack_zpse43d765f.jpg

This is one of the offending footers; the toilet block doesn’t really affect it.

April21Roguetrack-2_zps7e72456c.jpg

You can see the track piece at the top of the element

April21Roguetrack-4_zpsb9be1a50.jpg

They worked at the top

April21Roguetrack-3_zps0e6f8c6b.jpg

And the bottom

April21Roguetrack-5_zps0cbbdb40.jpg

By mid-afternoon the guy from Gerst gave me the thumbs up, after much pushing, pulling and probably swearing it was sorted. Let’s hope the next pieces go a bit smoother!

April21Roguetrack-6_zpse50d43da.jpg

Here are a couple of shots of the completed first drop

Evacuation lift

The evacuation lift for the vertical lift was fitted today as you can see in the following pics.

The station

The station started to get a lick of paint

Hypnotizer

The final leg went into position, here is how it happened.

Lower leg already in place.

April21Hypnotizer-2_zps04347b3d.jpg

Putting the upper part together,

April21Hypnotizer_zps71f6296a.jpg

This time they themed it before they put it in place.

April21Hypnotizer-4_zps86db3090.jpg

The hypnotizer has 3 motors that will spin 3 of the disks; here is one of those motors

Lifting the hypnotizer into place.

Fixing to the marmaliser

And the other half of the leg

Close up and overview

The Hypnotizer looks great and will be a real head chopper too.

Other

The Gerst office has gone!!!!!!!

Other_zpsef2ff09a.jpg

And the area was getting a clean and new fences have been put up. Alton towers staff also cleaned out the vending machines. I fully expect this area to be re-opened to the public in the next couple of days. Should give us some new photography angles.

Smiler Roodles, Smile. Always.

Last couple of shoots are close ups of the Hypnotizer disks

Gotta agree here, at first I wasn't in love with it but at the same time didn't hate it. The more I see the more it makes me appreciate the crazy cynical and disorienting theme they have come up with. And great update Roodles!!

A few pics from after work today..........

Around site

Banners down and fencing has gone up around the toilet block.

20130423_144903_zpsc6060efa.jpg

Scaffolding has gone up around some supports down the staffordshire knot end, no idea why but could it be where they are putting a camera? IDK

Adding more themeing and electrics to the Hypnotizer

So with the penultimate track piece in I sat and waited for the last piece to be installed. The crane moved in and I thought it was the time we had all been waiting for...............But we were to be denied.

Lift hill Stairs

The crane reappeared with some lift hill stairs, talk about gutted LOL.

I love that B&W "skyscrapper shot" I am working on getting a copy of the original file, would just love it up on my wall at home. Maybe alongside the original 1932 Image.

I'm not very good with vertical lift hills I must admit; I just don't feel comfortable being forced flat on my back. When I went on SAW (my first of its kind), I kept trying to force myself up which meant I was at an awkward angle when the drop took me by surprise and did my shoulder in!!

Seeing as this and Saw - The Ride are both from Gerstlauer realllyyy hoping the head banging isn't as bad, the length of this ride would make it hell!
