They can ban coolers, but don't go banning outside food and drinks. That is just a jerk move. I hated when Universal did that especially since I hate the water they sell.

I believe Disney is moving screening to TTC to make it so they have more room for screening. they have way more room there than they do at MK.

Universal bus hub is outside of the screening so Universal also poses the same risk. Something like this would effect all.

I guess for me I feel I have the same chance of being bombed traveling by my home as I do on vacation so why stop my life? That only let's those scumbags win.

Disney is moving the screenings to TTC for security reasons. Period.

Yeah, just saw this on CNN, and it came from a Conservative group, not even a moderate or liberal based one. A person has one chance in three in a half billion of being harmed by a foreign terrorist...... Don't live in our fears or be scared by those who exaggerate those fears for their political purposes. As an example, people in the UK lived in an atmosphere of very numerous terrorist attacks by Northern Ireland factions for many years. They continued to live their lives and didn't let it scare them to death. There's been a long history of terrorism in the world from a number of different crazies, factions, religion extremists and nationality groups. This is not something that never happened before. There's just more media coverage than before. and remember, one of the worst terrorist attacks ever, in our history, was carried out in Oklahoma by a fascist nationalist group. As you said, if you let them affect your lives, then that "let's the scum bags win".

OK, since we are going in this direction I heard an interesting stat today. Don't know how true and I don't want to get into a gun debate but the idea of people staying away from the parks is right up there with fear that you plane will crash.

The stat is: 94 people have died in the US since 9/11 from terrorist attacks while 150,000 have died from another American with a gun.

The chance of dying at WDW from an attack are right up there with dying in a plane crash compared to miles traveled each day.

I really don't understand living your life based on this, Zika or getting run over by a WDW bus driver. Things happen, the odds of it happening to you are amazingly small.

It would make headlines then we would move on IMO

Either that rule is no longer enforced or you might be mistaken.. I bring food and water with me every single time I go into Universal; and I'm not saying they miss the food.. I usually have 3-4 sandwiches, 3-4 snacks and bottles of water every time.

People buy into paranoia because they like to believe into the boogeyman, so there has to be this evil 'habit' which causes evil, let's be aware and stick with our values. But whatever we do, let us never question our own habbits, they are god-given. This pretty much a is red line through history. And apparantely there is this political candidate according to whom we should profile more, torture more, deny medical care, deny rights -so I guess these rights are god-given only when you first buy into certain values- etc. and all of this because of some hocus pocud "believe me" ... Sad state of affairs, yet still, I have hope on man, I mean eventually we shall grow a little wiser, and regardless, many people here seem rather levelheaded, and that always makes me see the bright side.

Personally, I think there is nothing much to the decline, inevitably there will just be lesser years. :)

They used to make you throw your water out, but this was years and years ago. I think since HP and Comcast taking over this was changed. But I have no clue when it changed, but I do know now you can bring in whatever you want. I just remember we would hide them in my husband's cargo pants years ago lol

I assumed it was to allow them to screen everyone instead of the security disaster of "spot" checks. Is it more they don't want people on the monorail without being screened?

From Touring Plans today on WDW crowd levels: "We can report that wait times have been lower than historical averages throughout most of August & September. Compared to wait times in Sept. 2015, this September has been much less busy. The crowd reports will likely show a lot of crowd levels 1's and 2's (the lowest on a scale of 1-10) these past few weeks, when we saw mostly 3's, 4's and higher for much of Sept 2015. "

Stitch's Great Escape is going into seasonal operation Oct 2nd. Last time this happened it was shortly after 9/11 with Timekeeper, CoP, WoL, and many more.

Cost cutting time..... Looks like even letting CM's in continuously with invited guests hasn't helped Sept. sorry attendance......Their usual shining time business quarter is coming up (Oct. Nov. Dec.). This is going to be real interesting. Lots of discount promotions. Will they work?

Think of all the chili dogs this will save.:)

The timing is it will start seasonal operation at the start of the new fiscal year. Looks like someone is already worried about next years numbers.

The Oct-Dec quarter is up against another 7% gain last year. No way they beat that. They have yet to do the level of promotions and discounts it would take to stop this decline.

Yep. They'd have to give away free tickets to do that. Wait, they already tried that with CM's & guests.

At the theme parks, Iger says that there’s been “no discernable impact” in attendance in Orlando due to concerns about the Zika virus.

His newest park, Shanghai Disney, “has exceeded our expectations” — at least in its handling of creative, cultural, and logistical matters.

And he sees additional “margin expansion possibilities” by improving efficiency, and investing in attractions.

“We’re going to open a huge Pandora or Avatar Land in Animal Kingdom” in Orlando. “It will become a full-day experience…We’re also building two Star Wars attractions for Florida and California. We haven’t been specific about when they will come on line, but we’re in the building process already.”

Iger believes attendance and sales will be helped by the strong economy, saying he sees “no sign whatsoever of a consumer slowdown….advanced bookings are relatively strong.”

Here is the interesting part of what Iger said:

Iger believes attendance and sales will be helped by the strong economy, saying he sees “no sign whatsoever of a consumer slowdown….advanced bookings are relatively strong.”

He now believes profit can be boosted by building new attractions.

He does not see a consumer slowdown? He should check the WDW attendance numbers.

I think it's more along the lines of the price hikes have worked towards their intentions, less people going but still making more money. The economy is getting stronger (not an opinion, just solid facts from economical reports), which means people will be able to afford higher prices to attend WDW; I think we can take his word about advanced bookings being relatively strong. Either way, I'm all for them investing more money in attractions.
