I'm pretty sure there must have been a convention at OCCC or Ports of Call visiting the park as I have heard about the long lines this weekend from multiple people. It's very odd for this time of year (before Halloween stuff and after Labor Day).

So Antarctica was open today, did you notice anything different about it at all? New effects? Fixed old effects? Anything?

we did not wait the 55 minutes, so I have no clue. but yes, it was open.

Magic Kingdom was also crazy Saturday. They were using all the parking lots and it looked like it was a few rows from being full, granted there were plenty of spots from people leaving throughout the day. Inside the park was a zoo and I was talking to one of the cast members who worked on fourth of July and she said that this Saturday easier looked busier then the fourth. That really makes me wonder what the actual counts for the forth were compared to Saturday.

I ended up pulling the trigger on the quick queue unlimited and was happy I did. 17 bucks well spent. Rode Antarctica and didn't notice anything different.

Yeah, there was some sort of big thing going on at the convention center. SeaWorld warned team members there would be extra traffic over the weekend and had them park across the street near the HR building (rather than in the regular employee lot) so they could have enough room to park guests.

Granted, I've never been in September before. But I guess the convention goers weren't Universal fans. I was there Saturday and Sunday and the crowds still seemed pretty light to me.

You would have noticed the crowds. It was busy at Sea World for summer, not just September. I haven't seen Mako at 40 minutes since opening week and I only go on weekends which generally are busier from locals. I have never seen the walking side of Penguins over 10 minutes and it was 45 minutes!

Though this article was pretty amusing..

Don't get angry; it's just vacation

Remember those business analysts, ignoring all the online rants to look only at the bottom line? If you want to get their attention, don't let your passion for theme parks lead you into anger. Allow your passion for theme parks to lead you to a competitor, instead. When the attendance and spending data start to slip over to another company, believe me, that gets a business' attention in ways that an endless online flame war never will.

Don't like the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror closing at Disney California Adventure? Don't waste your time, and your mental health, getting angry online. Just get in the car and spend your money up the 5, visiting Universal's Wizarding World of Harry Potter, instead. Or make the short drive over to Buena Park and enjoy all the recent upgrades over at Knott's Berry Farm. Take the kids down to Carlsbad and turn 'em loose to play at Legoland California. You've got options — options enjoyed by millions of other, equally passionate theme park fans. Use them.

GBP to USD Exchange Rate - Bloomberg Markets

This does not bode well for UK visitors travelling to the US.

Does everybody think that Thanksgiving will still be crazy, or will the attendance decreases possibly extend that far?

Something I did notice this year is that a lot of people visiting were repeat visitors. I noticed it most at TOT. Usually it seems like it's 50/50 if people riding was their first time but this time it felt like everybody had been on before.

I think once people get hooked on Orlando, they can justify the costs but for people on their first visit, the costs can be mind boggling.

Despite initially being ready to book a trip for 2017 as soon as we get back from our upcoming visit next week, that exchange rate is my breaking point. I can afford it, but I'm also conscious that the big amount of extra money it will cost can be used to better effect until a future time to return. It's already gonna put a bit of a damper on things when I hand my card over for the upcoming 2 weeks, knowing how much more every single item is costing me compared to my last visit just 6 months ago.
I'm very confident that lots of other Brits will be putting their sensible ears on like this too.

This exchange rate stuff confuses the hell out of me...

Would it be true that in a perfect world, the exchange would make the pound be exactly equal to the dollar, 1=1?

The easier way to do this would be to have a single unified world currency but no. You can look at the Euro currency to see why that's a bad idea.

The way the pound is falling against the dollar is good for anybody travelling to the UK as it makes everything cheaper but it makes everything more expensive for us Brits travelling abroad. I took $3000 spending money and it cost me about £2300 in late August, if I was to exchange the money before brexit it would have cost me £2000, if I was to do it now, it would cost £2500.

Wow, are supporters still all happy happy with the Brexit vote?

So, as I read that Bloomburg thing, $1 is equal to £1.21 - £1.35 right now? I believe, unless my memory betrays me, that years and years ago, $1 was equal to £1.65 if that is even possible. Today, I would take a little £10 - £1000 chart so I could figure out what I was spending...

Meanwhile, some in the USA are busy working to take down a big game yellow-furred water buffalo. So, we all have our strife! ;)

The £-$ rate is what it is, spending effort bitching about it is no use. As Scott said, the difference the day of the Brexit Vote to now is big, but on a daily basis it only affects it a little. We're all secretly hoping Trump gets in to weaken the $ lol

I'm taking about £2500, I am annoyed I didn't change it up on the day of the vote, big shock waking up to chaos!

It's the other way around, £1 = around $1.25 ATM, my first trip in 2010 it was £1 =$1.65

When our daughter went to the Dom Rep in 2008 iirc, it was £1 = $2

I'm glad we exchanged ours before brexit, so our next trip in January won't be quite as expensive as it would be now. Unless the Donald gets in and the dollar falls through the floor

Thanks for this clarification to my confusion. I just remember trying to calculate what I was spending when there... I have the mathematical capacity of a rock.

When we exchange currency in a TA most of them give you a handy little printout to put in your wallet that has a conversion table showing $1=£0.80 $1.50=£1.20 etc etc
