So do we think only monsters will be affected and Philhar and the other thing on the street for Hollywood will become a mini land?

I'm surprised the theater is not being touched

I know HollywoodLand needs to be dealt with, but just NOT a fan of Avatar being the replacement (or existing).

It will be interesting to see how they execute this new addition & how quickly they get it open.

The aspect of this announcement that I actually think is smart (from a theming perspective) is preserving Hollwyoodland as a sort of bridge to Pandora.

In an alternate universe somewhere you step off Buena Vista Street and into the world of Avatar, which would be a big mistake in this timeline IMO.

What makes less sense is how this space is currently being utilized vis a vis attractions. An empty Hyperion, Animation Academy, and a mostly empty Philarmagic is hardly a land of its own. The Academy and the theatre could be knocked down and reworked although you would have to figure out the path to Mission: Breakout. And keep in mind any fixes to this area would likely be 5-6 years down the line.

It is absolutely baffling to me how the Hollywoodland portion of this park has remained more or less intact since 2001. The walls seem to be closing in on it, yet it mocks progress with its horrendous puns.

I’m mostly amazed by the amount of people wondering how this will work… how does Monsters Inc work?? It’s been a mess from day one, but at least Superstar Limo made thematic sense.

At this point I don’t think the majority care. A richly themed land with an epic e-ticket will book visits.

I definitely see your point, but I think Monsters has two things going for it that Avatar does not. For one, it’s just an attraction and a relatively small one at that. While we haven’t gotten confirmed whether or not Avatar is a land or just an attraction, if it is just an attraction it will likely be enormous and have a lengthy and heavily themed queue. And secondly, the world of Monsters Inc is a metropolis and so is Hollywood. I am not saying it works at all from a theming perspective, but that is certainly less distracting than say the forests of Pandora would be if they just got stuck back there with no transition.

Perhaps there's a way to smooth out the transition. Maybe some kind of portal? :p

The concept art appeared to make it a full land, didn't it?

Yes. while Phiilarmagic/Sunset Showcase Theater was not mentioned as leaving, my guess is it is and will be for a secondary D ticket.

Yeah they’ve danced around outright saying it in the announcements, but the art all but confirms it will be a land.
