Hopefully the curved glass walls on this building don't have a repeat of the Vdara in Vegas.

I remember reading about this a couple years ago. Architecture is always evolving and you have to make mistakes to learn from. Too bad this was a multi-million dollar mistake.

Haven't seen this mockup of the rooftop bar yet, it was sent out in a marketing email from Universal for business meetings.

That looks like the roof of every apartment building I've seen in the past year. It's horribly generic.

Well , tourist are going to eat it up. Not everybody can afford to be in an urban and beautiful apartment tower, so getting it at a beautiful hotel on vacation with a view of the parks will sell!

So... Aventura and Riviera. Which one is the rip off of which?

Debate.

I don't see any kind of comparison. This is probably going to be the cheapest hotel on site, so you might as well compare it to any of Disney's value resorts.

It's a big tower with a rooftop bar with views of.. stuff.. (fireworks at one, parks at the other.)

Started construction at the same time.

And they sound the same.

"Ending things in "ah" is so hot right now!"

I just don't see much beyond that but that's probably just me. I can see me staying at Aventura but never at Riviera.

Probably not. I can't see me staying at any of the hotels it's connected to and I'd probably be driving any way unless I was going to Epcot.

I did get confirmation that this hotel is indeed loosely themed to Aventura, FL. Which is a planned condo community near Miami.

I'm pretty sure that's my dad's tower on middle-left. Great views but the architecture is an eyesore.

A lot of "themed" hotels are themed to the design elements of a certain geographical region. Like Key West or Saratoga NY. I'm sure they chose Aventura because of the modern tower esthetic that defines the areas look.

The thing is, Aventura designed like a hotel you could find in any metropolitan area in the country though. Saying it is designed after something from Aventura, FL is one thing, but that does not make it a theme.

The theme here is not Aventura, FL, then theme is "modern".
