The actors literally have no choice since they are contractually obligated to film another movie and Disney is filling their pockets.

I get Chadwick's death was too early and out of nowhere since he didn't tell anyone about his cancer, but Black Panther is a fictional character. It's an unfortunate circumstance that Marvel needs to work around. But the Black Panther dates back to 1966 and there have been many iterations of him - Chadwick is just one of those iterations. Stan Lee died within the past few years. When he died did people say to stop making Marvel movies because he created a ton of the characters? Nope.

Obviously it's not exactly the same, but my point is, his death is unfortunate, but we also need to move on. Do you think Chadwick would've liked BP2 to be cancelled because he died? We'll never know, but I highly suspect the answer to that is no based on how he conducted himself.

I'm not against a new but within a year of his death?

Nolan even changed the third batman when Health Ledger died, I just think they could have moved the film back longer back than not even a year, especially when I'm sure the director and actors would I'm sure agree to wait longer before just pushing though the next film

The movie has a timeline it has to meet for its 2022 release date. You know the MCU has a strict release schedule to stick to (and COVID has already hampered the schedule enough).

Between the heartbreaking situation with Chadwick, the premature firing of James Gunn, and COVID in general, this new phase has been given a raw deal. I understand that comes off as a very first-world take on all three situations, but I stand by it. Disney couldn't have possibly imagined that their 3 biggest MCU franchises (GotG, Spidey, BP) would be affected like this at such a vulnerable moment coming off of Endgame. Us not getting more superhero movies is obviously not the most important outcome of the tragedies, but if we're specifically discussing the future of the MCU I don't believe it's too wild to comment on it.

Imagine if they actually had lost the Spidey rights last August too, I don't know what the MCU would look like at that point.

AAAH!!! They're actually doing it! That tease in Endgame got me super pumped for some Wakanda Vs. Atlantis action. Super excited to see Submariner join the MCU.

It's absolutely tragic we won't get to see T'Challa and Namor face off, though.

In the beginning of Avengers: Endgame, Black Widow and Okoye are reporting news to each other when Natasha brings up a recent tremor on the African tectonic plate and asks how the Wakandans are handling it. Okoye vaguely and coldly responds "It's an earthquake under the Atlantic Ocean, we handle it by not handling it". It could easily be interpreted as a throwaway line about them not really wanting to deal with random earthquakes in the middle of the ocean, but the way that Okoye speaks about it infers that she knows more than she's letting on.

In the comics, the Atlantic ocean is home to Atlantis and Namor, the Submariner. Atlantis and Wakanda have fought before in the comics and are relatively close to each other. Atlantis is notoriously isolationist and really dislikes landfolk. And if any civilization on MCU Earth would know about an extremely well hidden, highly advanced, and highly isolationist city, it would be Wakanda who only revealed themselves to the world 5 years ago.

With all of this, the implication is that Okoye and the Wakandans are staying away from any activity in the Atlantic to avoid conflict with the city of Atlantis and the Submariner, regardless of how suspicious the "earthquakes" in the area are. I mean, the Avengers have gone to deep space. I doubt checking out the Atlantic is really that tough of an ask, unless there is someone there who really wouldn't like you trespassing on their property.

Apparently this is part of a stipulation from the recent union agreement called Zone A. This could rock the industry if we have some Kyrie Irving or Aaron Rodgers types (to bring some major sports stars into this as an example). If a major star doesn't want to get vaxxed and they are starring in the project, what happens?

Different thread, but it's looking like this could be the case for Letitia Wright in the Black Panther sequel.

'Black Panther' Fans Want Injured Letitia Wright Replaced If Unvaccinated

Letitia Wright, who played Shuri in "Black Panther," is recovering from an injury she sustained on the set of the sequel—and some fans want her replaced.

A Recast and finding a way to make a new BP.....along with having to move the story along in the MCU. Seems like this film is going to have a hard time being that amazing with so many moving parts

I think they should just leverage Multiverse of Madness to do a recast/restructure of the previously Wakanda canon. Bring in a Universe where N’Jadaka (Michael B. Jordan) is king/Black Panther and T’Challa/Shuri were never born (maybe T’Chaka died early so his brother became king instead of moving to the US.

I generally have little interest in the MCU at this point but I am interested to see how they handle the elephant in the room here. Marvel had to have known that said elephant could be an issue well in advance so they likely had a plan just in case.

Recast her. I don’t even care at this point. I get she’s been in I believe three movies now, so it’s not the same as recasting Rhodey or Hulk, but I also don’t see what other choices they have.

The movie had enough of a delay due to Chadwick’s way-too-early death and having to rewrite the script. They wrote it around Shuri it would seem, and now Letitia Wright wants to play games. Letitia Wright isn’t important to the Marvel Universe, Shuri is. She can be replaced. It’d be weird, but I’d understand.

I still maintain they should have bitten the bullet and recast T'Challa. The film would not have been in the position where Wright would potentially have to carry it (and, therefore, she might have wrapped her role before she ever was in a situation to get injured, stretch out the production timeline, and run into this vaccine stuff).

I know Disney doesn't care about the quality of their tentpoles and only want to get them out as soon as they can, especially after delaying so much due to COVID. However, the first Black Panther was such a success it would be a real shame if Coogler and the team had to rush out this movie considering how many things are going on with production. I think they need to push this back a year and let them find their footing.

For some reason wasn’t expecting Riri Williams showing up until Iron Heart.
