Woah! I'm away for a bit and when I come back I see this! Astounding! Universal keeps impressing me more and more! What a powerhouse!

It definitely looks like they could be aiming to open this with Potter Phase II. And what a great and profitable idea that'd be Universal. Judging by the crowds when Phase I opened officially, or even during softs! And these holiday crowds! These past few days Universal has been SO packed! Now I'm beginning to think that they need to add a whole new third park  They should totally build a themed water park right in front of this resort

Keep it up Uni! Can't wait to see the incredible progress that will be made here in the next year!

Felipe this will open before Potter, and be a huge part of the new Potter vacation packages.

Any word on the rumored "potter themed suites" with wand activated lights and special effects?

Nothing but it IMO is inevitable.

As much as I love Potter, I wouldn't put something like that here, with the theme of this resort. I'd keep within the theme and rock that out.

Maybe one day we'll have something like the Cinderella Castle suite... Maybe a Leaky Cauldron suite, though it's not nearly the same as staying at Hogwarts...

This came up on the JP expansion thread, but I just had to bring it up and respond here:

Disneyhead said:
Even without express passes I am sure that sure there will be enough perks to justify a stay for the tourists.

Since they will need transport to CityWalk, I would LOVE for the to run one of these along the median of Hollywood Way from Cabana Bay to CityWalk. And did I mention it's built by Dopplemayr:

Seriously, if every major Ski Resort on the planet running them I am sure UOR could afford one.

This. Would. Be. AWESOME. :faint:

And regarding the Gondola idea. They are going to need some sort of transport to CityWalk. Tourists ARE NOT going to walk it. And busses would be SOOO Disney. The Gondola would be what Disney would have done when Disney was amazing.

They already have buses, btw! When it storms, the water taxis don't run and the only way to the resorts is by bus (or walking, I guess) :P

Still, I'd also love to have a skyline transportation system! That would be a HUGE draw for the hotel!

This was discussed before between me and Disneyhead on this thread. It's a great idea since they won't expand the water way.

Does anybody else think that would look incredibly tacky? I guess it's a viable option, but there's a reason most "theme" parks have removed these.

Probably be cheaper in the long run too as well as being more environmentally friendly, I think this is an excellent idea. Build It Uni:thumbs:

On topic of the actual hotel, I passed by it the other day and they were going full steam and definitely parts of it were vertical. No pics tho, sorry!

I would have to agree. Tons of overhead cables stretching across the property would leave me cold. Perhaps they will merely have a back ticketing entrance into IOA between JP and TL with a footbridge spanning the road.

Most theme parks including Disney removed them because of the fact they were traveling over major guest areas and people kept throwing things out of them hitting guests below. As far as tacky, in the skiing industry they are usually the sign on a more expensive ski resort. Because they use these instead of simple chair lifts. And I don't think anyone really complains about the Skyway being tacky at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. But if they wanted to they could "hide" it in the treetops of the Tree Barrier along the northern side of Hollywood way.

Yes, but they are small and take FOREVER. I waited about half an hour for the bus one time when it was storming and the water taxis went down, and not everyone was even able to get onto the bus. And this was on a not too crowded day.

Wouldn't current regulations not allow things like this to be built anymore?

It's not really the car that I think looks bad, but more the ugly drooping cables. If they could really hide the cable well then I may be a little more for the idea.
