I love, love, love the sign. As someone who is obsessed with Mad Men (and who wasn't alive in the sixties, and therefore can view that decade with rose-tinted glasses), I am so happy Universal went with a mid-century retro theme for this resort!

That's awesome, should look brilliant at night.

I bet this place will have a great soundtrack, too. I love going down in the morning at RPR and hearing the music around the pool, and although it'll be just about as different as it could be from that, Cabana Bay should have a great vibe!

I love that it looks like an upgraded Disney value. I know there's no comparison in the rooms and amenities but the feel of the values can be pretty awesome.

I got Cabana reserved in Sept.2014 for $95 a night using the 5 nights discount. And $165 a night for Royal Pacific with the 8 nights discount. But I'm guessing rates will rise in the near future. Way better than Disney on site rates plus Universal's hotels are better. Just love the Portofino. We usually get that for $195 to $239 a night with the discounts during the off season. At Disney that's the going rate for a moderate that has bathrooms that are the size of a small closet.

I used the website at that time. The $95 rate showed when plugged the 5 Sept. days into the search. 5 days generates a discount. 6 or 7 days probably would have been a larger discount. But the discounted rate is also dependent on the seasonal base rate. Those seasonal single day rates are usually listed on the site. But, as i said, the discount rate only shows once you have plugged actual days into the search function. I think it was listed under book your rooms. I usually plug in a number of days since the prices sometimes fluctuate by what date you start your vacation. Example; starting a vacation on a Sat. is usually a little higher rate than starting on a Tuesday, etc. If you play around with the dates you'll see what I mean.

Keep in mind that (other than the type of room) the days of the week included in your stay and also the number of people will make a difference in the cost.

*Lazy River Courtyard, The Hideaway Bar & Grill, Tower Family Suites and Standard Rooms will not be available until 7/1/2014.

Universal confirmed this in an email. I'm guessing the Hideaway Bar & Grill is the poolside restaurant and bar. Dang.
