Are the signs on the roofs the names of the various buildings?

Yeah, the names of all the buildings are Castaway, Thunderbird and Starlight on the North, and Americana and Continental on the South of the property.

Those photos from Facebook are exceeding my expectations!

A few things grabbed from their website:

Lazy River Courtyard, Hideaway Bar and Grill, Tower Family Suite and Standard Rooms will not be available until grand opening on 7/1/2014.

A variety of convenient dining options include a food court open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Starbucks® coffee shop, lobby and pool bars, and a full-service restaurant in the bowling alley

http://www.loewshotels.com/en/Cabana-Bay/dining

I'm sold by the Starbucks.

Food options seem to be limited to Pizza, Burgers, and Frappucinos. It's a good thing you have to walk to get to the parks.

Wait, is this the way that people will have to go to get to the parks from the hotel? :inquisitive:

Only eight minutes? I was under the impression it would take more than RPH which is already a ten minute walk.

Basically that area, but this is pre-construction of the bridge and wider paths.

Excellent and constructive video Mike. It is very doable and quite enjoyable. Those sidewalks are lovely, however, they weren't designed for 8000 people per day, coming and going... they will be widened if more choose to walk.

Thanks for posting my video, Mike!
I recorded this for TouringPlans, there's a blog about the bridge construction on our website today.
I was surprised too how little time it took, I was walking at a moderate pace and made it in 8 minutes. At an easy jog it would be closer to 5, it's really not much further than the RPR walking path, and maybe less than Portofino's!
Of course the hotel is ginormous, if staying at the south end tack on another 10 minutes of hiking...

Aah, that was your video Skuber. Thanks for taking the time to show us what the walk is all about. It puts much in perspective.

Seems shorter than Portofino. We walk the trail often when we stay at Portofino since its a beautiful walk. No way it ever took as little as 8 minutes. Seems like the Cabana walk cuts the angle, making it shorter than it would seem.

Yep, it is a deceptive cut-off that delivers guests to the IOA bridge. It is as short as any WDW parking lot and in some instances far shorter and far prettier. In hindsight, Disney wishes it had built tighter and yet kept it's borders vast. UO is a really tight park. Seeing bits of it before you get there only enhances the anticipation.

Any construction updates or recent pics? We're going to be there in August and I can't wait! I think I've looked at every pic online 100 times in anticipation.

I can't wait until people start going and we start getting updates.

That's actually really cool. They're driving the theme home on this one.
