Thanks nate! No wonder I never clearly noticed it before, as it is somewhat hidden in that model shot.

Too, there is no indication of work progressing on it in this most recent aerial. No wonder I was lost...

Yep, I'm thinking they wanted to leave that area clear during the brunt of construction. Maybe they'll get started as other things start finishing up.

I wondering if you can visit and use the facilities if you are staying at another Universal resort? Anyone have any ideas on this, thanks in advance...

Yes any onsite room key gives access to all onsite pools.

I don't believe that's entirely correct. When we've stayed at the Portofino, our room keys only worked on the Portofino pool's gates. We were allowed to use the Hard Rock & Royal Pacific pools, but we had to show the attendant our card.It didn't activate the gates.

Im looking at booking here for the first weekend of HHN this year. Its cheap enough and might as well do it soon before the rates go nuts during the summer of Potter

I thought the same. I booked Cabana for five nights in Sept. and then Royal Pacific for 8 nights after that. Prices were really good & it looks like it should be fun with the lazy river/pool combo.

I figured it would be the perfect time to check it out since the rest of the resort will be open along with all the Potter stuff. I wont be going there at all over the summer and might go for a day or so later winter/early spring time but would rather save staying on site for HHN

So to book here for early June or not to book here for early June? That is the question. I might book a room simultaneously at RPR for the Express benefit too.

I got Cabana reserved in Sept.2014 for $95 a night using the 5 nights discount. And $165 a night for Royal Pacific with the 8 nights discount. But I'm guessing rates will rise in the near future. Way better than Disney on site rates plus Universal's hotels are better. Just love the Portofino. We usually get that for $195 to $239 a night with the discounts during the off season. At Disney that's the going rate for a moderate that has bathrooms that are the size of a small closet.

Wow, you have a two week vacation in these United States? While I have never stayed at a park resort hotel, I will agree that Disney's "best" looks like a turd on a biscuit. I have stayed at a finer looking and appointed Marriott in downtown Chicago. Bolted wall lamps are the first of my disgust.

It had 60-70 floors and I could see the lake and lighthouse! It wasn't next to the MK, but it was near some far more cool stuff relating to both world and art history.

Marriott Magnificent Mile? It's a big hotel, could use a room refurb though.

Some of the Disney Hotels are really amazing with great finishes. Most of the lobby's are very beautiful too. Some like the Carribean Beach resort feel much cheaper.
