The main Studio Store inside the park still had a good amount on Sunday night

We actually grabbed a drink there before Horror Nights on Sunday, Sept. 6. It was reasonably crowded but also severely understaffed. Two bartenders who were both making over-the-top-Instagram-cocktails and taking orders from the smattering of tables around the bar.

Unfortunately being crowded yet understaffed seems to be a permanent fixture at CityWalk table service restaurants these days.

Having just stopped by Citywalk for the first time in a while this evening, both of these spots feel too small for a Cowfish. Maybe -- maybe -- the Dongpo Kitchen venue, but it'd be really tight. Not sure how practical it is.

Didn't stop to have anything, but the new Toothsome bar looked nice from the outside and had a decent number of bodies for an early Tuesday evening. The Celebrity Authentics store is a smart move -- lots of tourists with money to burn who may be wow'd by celebrity autographs on an (admitteldy neat) assortment of collectibles.

Most welcome was the light Halloween refresh of the Universal Cinema. In addition to the aforementioned Renfield, Van Helsing, and Dracula Untold costumes front and center on the first floor, they've added a bunch of costumes and props from Ma, The Substance, Abigail, Shaun of the Dead, and Army of Darkness on the upper floors. They've also switched out the usual BG tracks for eerie music or, on one occassion, the Jaws theme.

If you're looking for Studio Screamers, I didn't see any in the main Studio Store, but there were a few in the corner at the "Tribute Store" near the ET garage. I only spotted one Slash vinyl, which I grabbed.

For some reason they seem to be putting one vinyl out on the shelf at a time in that store. When I checked out I saw multiple boxes behind the counter of them.

Depositing a thought from @Jonathan & Lords IUP Episode, and I am gonna deposit a thought.

What if they did the direction of Citywak Entertainment focuses on physical engagement? With Escapology in January, they have a potential avenue with entertainment coming directly from that of the consumer itself.

Whereas you could do bars and nightlife, what if you had Escape Rooms and per chance—a bowling alley? I actually wonder if they take a page from DTD and look into a bowling concept as opposed to a mini golf. With a bowling concept, you could integrate food options ontop of a physical activity that guests can do.

Only drawback I can see is of the potential proximity risk that it could be, with stuff in Hollywood/Highland and Van Nuys, but it’d be an interesting option to consider:

They used to have a bowling alley--Jillian's--right above where Margaritaville is now. I wouldn't argue something similar returning, though.

Still think mini golf, especially an indoor one, would be a pretty good draw.

We desperately need a well themed mini-golf instead of the rundown ones around SoCal.

And a return of the bowling alley. Hell, make it themed to Margaritaville & put it back above the space. "VOLCANO LANES" get a strike & make the volcano blow!

What CityWalk needs (though impossible(?)) to pull off is tiered parking. Folks are not gonna pay $40 to window shop. They should do the AMC voucher for all future Citywalk based attractions (the cheap parking for proof that you attended so and so) to entice people to actually wanna make it some sort of entertainment district.

Lighting permits have been spotted for a new food venue in Citywalk. Not sharing the photos--but it seems to be a chain location for Slice House.

Slice House

slicehouse.com slicehouse.com

Doesn't seem to be a proper "sitdown", so I am not quite sure where this could go. My guess is Karl Strauss, due to the infastructure changes when Starbucks came over there.

The original Tony's in the North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco is phenomenal. I haven't been to one of the Slice House locations, but the Las Vegas Tony's outpost is also quite good. If this is even half as good as the one in San Francisco... I'm very intrigued.

Honestly if this fills the void of Blaze, I won't complain. If it's in Karl Strauss, while I wish it'd be a bigfire; it should hopefully mean DongPo is something else as exciting (like say, Cowfish if they had the balls).

Dam it

There goes my cheaper option. (The coupons make it somewhat fair)

I hope we get something new but also doubt it will be something I go to as much as this

Wow. Must be a property licensing thing, I was there literally two days ago and the entire massive restaurant was filled with people. No way they weren’t making enough money.
