Coronado Springs - Gran Destino Tower

qwuyetr34786931-624x351.jpg

Last year, we announced a massive expansion of Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort set to debut next summer at Walt Disney World Resort. Today, we’re excited to share more details about the reimagining of this popular resort hotel, including some new renderings that show off how beautiful it’s going to look when completed.

The centerpiece of this expansion is a new 15-story tower, which you can see in the rendering above. It will add 545 guest rooms (including 50 suites!) to the resort. The tower will be the new main entry point when visiting the resort; in the rendering below, you can see the tower’s gorgeous two-story lobby where you can check in and find some cozy places to relax. Atop the tower, you can look forward to dining in a themed and unique table-service restaurant that will provide incredible views of Walt Disney World Resort.

The rest of Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is being refreshed, as well. All 1,800-plus existing rooms have been fully updated with new fixtures, furnishings and lighting. Another new restaurant will be located on an island in the middle of the resort’s 14-acre lake, Lago Dorado, with new walkways stretching across the water allowing for quick and convenient walks to and from all parts of the resort. And a fresh, sophisticated color palette will tie the entire experience together, blending the new and the newly reimagined.

We’re looking forward to sharing new details about Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort as they become available. Keep checking back here for more information!

Looks like a Vegas casino.

When I stayed at Coronado last month they had this concept art on the work walls. Every time we walked by we made jokes about whether or not they were going to put dancing fountains out front, or if there would be slot machines in the lobby.

It's a little too flashy if you ask me, doesn't really jive with the rustic feel of 2/3 of the existing Coronado. Unfortunately, the only part of the resort it kinda matches, is on the exact opposite side. The Cabanas and Ranchos areas that are nearest to the tower are much more rustic, and this is going to be a little bit jarring.

Oh well. Still isn't too noticeable from your room from most vantage points, but you'll see it every time you walk to the lobby, main pool, etc.

EDIT: Actually, after taking a closer look at the concept art it looks like they lessened the golden tower accents on the roof, so it isn't too bad. Still a bit much for my quiet relaxing resort, but not as bad as what I had seen before.

I agree and whoever is designing these resort towers wants to leave their mark because it kind of looks outlandish.

I hope that it is toned down but I'm curious what the final product will look like. The Riviera looks interesting and I would think about staying there. However, as you pointed out a while back, the skyline of Disney has totally changed with these new hotel towers and not necessarily in a good way.

Seriously don't get what they're doing with this resort. Caribbean Beach at least transformed the lobby to look like a lobby of a resort in the Caribbean and ruined the food court theme/ added a table service. This in no way looks like the southwest-inspired design of Coronado Springs, nor does it look like any real aspect of the southwest/Mexico in general.

Here's a look at the rooms at the new tower:

They're not as bad as the refurbished Beach Club rooms, but I do wish they'd include more Disney touches. The regular rooms at CS with the Three Caballeros are perfect in that regard.

I love the coffered ceilings with uplighting package in the presidential suite. Very nice looking all together, I may have to try these rooms out in a future stay.

The rooms look great. Have they published the square footage on these anywhere?

Haven't been able to find sq footage, but here's some ballpark room prices for the Tower. This is for 11/1-11/5 '19...

Tower - Standard - $270
Tower - Water View - $295
Tower - Standard King - $347
Tower - Water King - $357
Tower - Standard Club Access - $383
Tower - Executive Suite Club Access - $609
Tower - One Bedroom Suite Club Access - $982
Tower - Presidential Suite - $1397

That seems to be on the low end for prices, however. I've seen the Standard around a rack rate of $320-$340 for most of the year.

GEEZ. I would just do DVC rental at those prices.

Keep in mind this is more or less going to be serving as a convention hotel tower. Disney will make a lot of money from people on their company card, so some people won't blink twice before booking a Presidential Suite at that price.

For the average person though, yeah, DVC point rentals makes a lot more sense.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Walt Disney World Resort

The fully re-imagined Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort debuts July 2019. Incredible views, new dining and amenities, and transformed arrival experience.

A Reimagined Resort Hotel Delight in an array of enhancements and new features at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. Highlights include:

A New Arrivals Experience Before you even reach the port-cochère, you’ll be welcomed with magnificent views of this Resort hotel—which is particularly captivating at night thanks to its dramatic lighting. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort features a grand entrance with 3 elongated archways and a signature, ribbon-patterned design that lends to a striking architectural expression.

Upon arrival, step through an entryway featuring intricate wooden screens and into a grand, 2-story lobby adorned with rows of Moorish hanging lanterns—all beautifully enhanced by subtle lighting. The rear wall of the lobby features full-height decorative bronze screens inspired by Spanish tile patterns.

Centralized Amenities A hub of activity, Villa del Lago—the “Lake Villa”—is a mirage-like collection of one-story, wood buildings set in the middle of Lago Dorado. This centralized amenities area is inspired by the artists, dreamers, adventurers and explorers of a bygone age whose passion for life is celebrated in the rich legends, lore, art and cuisine represented here. Located at the intersection of the 3 new bridges that span the lake and link to the hotel, Villa del Lago represents a bustling “crossroads” for those in search of recreation and relaxation.

This scenic setting is also home to Three Bridges Bar & Grill, a lakefront restaurant serving up tasty cuisine. Behind the central bar is a beautiful stone hearth, where you can relax by a glowing fire pit in the evening as you sip on refreshing beverages.
