Sounds great, I read on Attractions Magazine that tonight is the only night the store is going to open and re-open when the ride does, so think that confirms that the higher ups must be riding it.

Good...good. I'll probably be there on Thursday (nothing guaranteed yet) so I'll keep an eye out.

Exciting! This is a lot closer than I think a lot of us were guessing. If this doesn't have softs by late May or early June, I just might eat my shorts.

There's a swarm of new pics today. Seeing as the Super Silly Funland in the movie was a typical amusement park, Uni has themed the interior of the Super Silly Stuff gift shop to a midway theme. :look:

Additionally, @Kryptonlogic got a sneak peek of some of the queue.

From @attractions: "Gru and two of his Minions are posing with guests at the VIP opening party"

Hmmm... last I checked... Simpson's ride has a carnival theme... will this ride end up being of a similar genre?

They probably used it because the Simpsons facade was so well recieved :bonk:

But the carnival was a major plot point in the film, so I wouldn't be surprised if it is in the ride.

So I got to the park tonight about 5:30, and while sitting outside of the Lucy Tribute texting Briman that the DM store was open the side doors swung open at DM. Mark Woodbury walked out talking to another man. The two split and Mark just kind of hung out right by the Lucy Tribute entrance, right next to where I was sitting changing my lens out on my camera. He walked right up next to me and watched the crowds. I was sitting there like are you serious right now

To avoid giving him that theme park weirdo vibe, I just calmly leaned over and said " Can I just tell you what an amazing job you guys have done here." And then just went back to changing my lens. He looked at me and told me thank you and the conversation began. I spoke with him years ago but it was under totally different circumstances and he was talking to hundreds of people all around him. Tonight we literally just talked for a few minutes about all things Universal. Really nice guy by the way who went as far as saying thank you and appreciate you coming out tonight. I never asked him about future projects I was respectful and just listened.

Highlights of conversation
-DM is opening "very soon" and is an Amazing attraction
-After talking about how I was just at USH a few months ago and enjoyed Kong 360. He then said you have to get back and ride transformers. He was EXTREMELY proud of it you could tell. I told him I was jealous they have it and we don't. To which he smiles and responds "Well, you never know" he chuckled and took off.

So in other news here are the photos after Mark walked off.

While I absolutely love the exterior and the stuff from the inner queue that I'm seeing, I absolutely hate the shop. It looks flat, boring, and unfinished. They couldn't have gone with Gru's Lab or something like that? Right now it looks like a generic Simpsons Ride midway... and that's saying something, because Simpsons is TRYING to be generic.

Really hoping there'll be softs over Memorial Day, though.

I'm digging the queue so far, I can't make up my mind if I'm digging the midway look of the shop though. It just rubs me wrong that they leave black warehouse/soundstage walls in there for all to see.

I'm so jealous. Very cool. Hopefully the execs in attendance tonight liked what they saw and will give Mark and co. some more money for more new things!
