This is now my favorite ride at Universal. If you really enjoy the movie you will love the ride.

Got to ride it a few times yesterday. Really, really, loved it. The preshows were amazing, and the ride itself was just plain ol' fun.

You mean an actual cgi render glitch? How did that make it out of the shop?

They've said the animation still isn't done and is the reason it hasn't "officially" opened yet.

they have even shared an image with one. check the picture on the Universal Orlando Resort FB page. look straight back at the fly swatter on the right. you can see right through the minion's eye.

not doubting you at all but can you share with me where they have said the animation isn't finished?

^Yes, I noticed it. I posted about it a while back, but hid it in spoilers. There's also a major flaw with the second preshow. For two-thirds of the video, the value is too weak, with little to no shadows. It's noticeable in Gru's eyebrows and becomes obvious when the value changes dramatically towards the end of the video. And there are quite a few snags in the ride's animation as well, right around "resist the banana." The video also becomes blurry towards the end of the ride.

I didn't notice any of these things but then again I was having fun and not sitting in the pods with pen and paper pointing out eyebrow flaws...

What company did the animation for the original film? IMDB lists individual persons but no company. All the animation staff appear to have French names.

Someone mentioned it to a blogger during the technical rehearsals.

Illumination. It's Universal's animation division.

It was Mac Guff Ligne I believe.

Which was acquired by Illumination last year.

I rode six times. I didn't notice until my third ride. :) And in all honesty, I wasn't actually looking for flaws. I just saw them. I have an eye for detail. It comes from being an art student.

I guess that's why it's called a technical rehearsal. And I certainly would rather it be opened for softs like this rather then just keep it closed until a few days before it's grand opening and missed out on riding it.

^Precisely. And it's the main reason that the TMs continue to stress that the attraction should be viewed as a work in progress.

There is also this time when in the 2nd Pre-Show, when the Minion is holding up the Blueprints, the Blueprints go through another Minion's headphones:

^Yup, I see that. What's funny is that I did not see many flaws in the first video.

^ I KNEW it... and I almost said something. Most people don't use the visual arts term 'value' to describe what they are seeing.

Haha, yeah... That's why when I review things like this, it's seems a little overly tedious... I apologize for that. :)

Saw it last night for the first time. It was alright, but overall, wasn't too impressed at all. Too similar still to Neutron and with the theme of the ride, Simpsons. I just felt like it was stuff I had seen and done before. Plus, it was WAY too bumpy.
