In case anyone doesn't follow to the article, it does say that they were able to save all the fish.

Except the one's already being eaten of course.

Wow. I would hope every single one of the dining customers in that area had their meal comped.

I'm sure they would have comped their meals. That's pretty funny though. Guess too many customers were tapping on the glass.

Do you think those acrylic fish tanks are made by the group in Las Vegas that has the show "Tanked" on AP? They appear to be very customized aquariums.

I'm pretty sure they have/had the contract to redo all of the Rainforest Cafe tanks, since they made the reference to that on one of their shows. I don't know specifically if they did T-Rex but it is plausible.

I'm pretty sure it's done by Fish Tank Kings aka Living Color Aquariums they have a show on NatGeo Wild. I could be wrong but I thought they had an exclusitivity contract with Disney for Downtown Disney.

Aaah... not familiar with that show. As they are located in Fort Lauderdale it tends to make much more sense.

ah yes... from their website:

Scott Joseph (arguably Orlando's most prominent restaurant critic) says Morimoto, STK steakhouse, and the Edison might be coming to DTD:

http://www.scottjosephorlando.com/i...e-restaurants-may-be-headed-to-disney-springs

Joseph usually focuses more on downtown/Winter Park, but he seems fairly confident on STK, willing to take his word others are in negotiation.

The Edison looks like fanboi kryptonite, will pull a lot of AdvClub fans. I don't see a market for the other two, tho. Won't mesh well with the stroller-pushing, well-done flank steak crowd. And I still have to ask, how does PI alone support 7 or 8 restaurants when the existing 3 rarely have waits outside peak seasons?

Considering that Canada is the most popular and hardest restaurant to get reservations for in Epcot, I am going to go with there is a market for a good steak place. Why does having kids and pushing a stroller mean you don't like a good steak? Heck my daughter (who is 3) loves a good Medium Rare steak, if it overcooked she won't touch the thing.

And I would not say there is no demand on the restaurants in DTD. I am trying to get reservations for the 3rd and I can't get a decent dinner time at the Irish place other than 5 PM (nothing after 5 is available) and Trex doesn't have anything the entire night. Not bad considering that it is really a dead season.

I see a huge difference between a true high-end steakhouse (ala Ruths Chris or Mortons or Shula) and a glorified Outback that happens to be the "safest" DDP choice in WS.

As for demand, I go to DTD a lot (well, not as much as I used to, but more than most). I rarely see a crowd waiting for seats at Raglan outside Friday/Saturday nights, never see one at Paradiso or Portabello. Not really considering RFC or T-Rex, or even Planet Hollywood, because these sound more like "grown up" restaurants.

I have not been to Canada, but I was always told it has better steaks, not just a glorified Outback. Which since I hate outback scares me a little. I have been meaning to try Canada for awhile now, but just haven't gotten a chance. I love Capital Grill and Ruth Chris though. And there are other safe choices like Italy. I mean kids love Pizza and Pasta!

I guess I always go on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, so that is probably why I always see lines

What you heard is correct. Canada is actually one of the best steakhouses in Orlando (for the record, I think Ruth's Chris may be the most overrated restaurant in the world and Canada easily tops it). Ive done quite a bit of fine dining around Orlando and Canada definitely ranks pretty high in terms of quality food.

Even if its detractors were right about it being nothing but a glorified Outback, its image is that of an upscale steakhouse as well...so all the people waiting to eat there ARE in the market for high-end steak, because thats what theyre expecting to get. I think people forget that while to us Disney may just be a hot, sweaty Sunday afternoon, to most guests its the vacation that can define their life--to think that theres not a demand for upscale experiences and high-class food on the "ultimate vacation" is ignorant.

I personally don't think Le Celier lives up to it's lofty goals/reputation, but it's still pretty good.

Agreed. And also it was/is the "safe" choice in WS. Steaks and burgers, not sushi or shwarma. And at the end of the day, it is a Disney restaurant. I just can't picture a high-end steakhouse (or sushi place) with kids running around and guests in Goofy t-shirts and mouse ears.
