I’m loving this design. It looks amazing on the Disney+ interface.

Also, even if you hate TROS, there’s a 2-hour documentary in TROS extras on D+ called “The Skywalker Legacy”. A much better use of your time than watching the actual movie imo.

There's a show coming that Dwayne Johnson is hosting that I think is supposed to be similar. It's called "Behind The Attraction".

Do you ever read an article from last year and kind of sorrow in it's unbridled optimism?

No debut date is yet set, but with the announcement just now happening, I expect this might not release until sometime next year. Perhaps just in time for Jungle Cruise to arrive in theaters on July 24th?

Random thought: So the only MCU movies not on Disney+ are Infinity War, Ant Man and the Wasp, The Incredible Hulk and Spider-Man Homecoming and FFH. Infinity War and Ant-Man & the Wasp are both coming once their deals with Netflix expire late this Summer. The Incredible Hulk likely never hits the service because of Universal and TiH sort of being the red-headed step child of the MCU.

But Spider-Man is an interesting topic. Yes it has the Sony hurdle, but Disney and Sony seem to have a good enough relationship, unlike Disney and Universal. Also, I noticed that Homecoming is on Hulu, which Disney obviously owns. So if it's on one Disney streaming service, then it stands to reason that there's hope for the movies to end up on Disney+ some day. I assume Disney would have to shell out some big cash though to get exclusive streaming rights to those movies and with the service not making money, the question becomes is that something Disney really wants to do.

At the same time, there was the rumor of Sony putting their Silver Sable/Black Cat show on Disney+, so maybe a deal is in the works? I guess we'll see.

It'll all depend on whether or not Sony plans on making a streaming service of their own someday. So far, they're the only one of the "Big Five" studios without one in the works. Holding back the Spider-Man properties would give them something to market it with.

But, then again, they just shut down Vue in January. And without a lot of cash on hand, they could decide it's just easier to partner with Disney until they're on more stable ground.

Besides their Spider-Man content and Jumanji (and i'll give them Bad Boys since that was a big hit this year and has a sequel on the way), Sony doesn't really have enough to warrant a viable streaming service imo. Aside from some of the Bond films that they had distribution rights for, Terminator 2, Ghostbusters, and MIB, they, don't even have a great/marketable back catalog.

How dare you say they don't have a great back catalog when they have such oscar worthy franchises as Resident Evil and Underworld ;););)

Share your thoughts, if anything I could see Sony linking up with another studio for streaming, hopefully one that already has a service as we really don't need another one - we have enough now.

They should link up with Viacom, Lionsgate, and maybe add in someone like A24? Viacom/CBS doesn't have enough either imo, Lionsgate, has a decent amount of popular franchises like Hunger Games, Twilight, John Wick, the "Fallen" franchise, Knives Out, etc, but they're still too small. A24 puts out more indie content, but most of it is quality.

None of those really have enough for their own service (CBS All Access is proof enough), but together, you could be looking at something successful. Although the question does become are you just starting Hulu all over again? Hulu was created as a joint venture by Disney, Comcast, Fox and Warner.

We're already starting to see streaming fatigue whenever HBOMax and Peacock come up. I don't know that there's room for yet another service with a couple IPs I want to see. Consolidation may even be coming, if the rumors of Netflix buying CBS prove true. Why go through the hassle when you can simply become "Sony on Hulu" or something like that, just cash the checks.

I just don't see how it's feasible that Netflix can buy CBS when they still aren't turning a profit and are throwing a seemingly endless amount of money into content. I agree though it's easier to just make a deal since people aren't going to buy another service.

While some may argue that we're just back to "we're we started with cable", well, from a price standpoint that may be true depending on how many services you're subscribed too. However, think of the quality of the content you get with cable and then think of the quality of content you get with Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Disney+, Apple TV+, Peacock, etc.

The pricepoint may come close to cable (I think it's still considerably less), but you're getting so much more. We're living in a golden age of television right now.

New Marvel show debuting next week. “Fury Files”. Animated, of course, so don’t get too excited.

NatGeo's 8-episode miniseries "The Right Stuff" has been moved from the NatGeo network to Disney+ this Fall. This show was filmed on location in Central Florida and interior scenes were filmed at USF's Sound Stages. I got the chance to be an extra/stand-in 15-20 times, so if anything i'm looking forward to it to see if I made any of the shots

I like the National Treasure franchise, but i'd rather an Indiana Jones Spin-off show.

Elsewhere, if you like documentaries like The Boys, Frank and Ollie, Waking Sleeping Beauty and The Imagineering Story, then this new series based on Howard Ashman will probably be right up your alley:

Interesting, I wasn't even aware of this project! I think the original movie is a pretty definitive adaptation of the book, and coupled with FROM THE EARTH TO THE MOON, the ground has been well-covered, but I'll definitely be giving this one a look.

I think the fact that you didn’t know about it is all you need to know about why this got moved to Disney+. Very few people watch NatGeo unless you’re big on animals.

It does mean we're likely to get a more sanitized version of the events, of course. No LBJ cussin' out staffers or astronauts throwing around more F-bombs than in (I'm pretty sure) any other PG-rated film!

Not that those things are the most important aspects of the story, but they're probably accurate!

I won't say too much just because it's not out yet, but from the many hours I spent on set, it never seemed like this show was going too much in that direction anyway (before it was meant for Disney+). There was a bit of it of course, though. It will definitely be a unique show for Disney+'s lineup though - something more serious. Adult fare that isn't Star wars or Marvel with a very talented cast to boot.

I'm in favor of anything that skews a bit more mature (while still being accessible for families) to help diversify -- slightly -- the Disney+ library.
