There is no way they would wait for WDW to build theirs... it would be ridiculously stupid if they did. While I will miss Big Thunder Ranch for its character photo-ops during the Halloween/Holiday season that I got to experience last year, I would rather see construction begin ASAP!... Honestly, with such a high profile project like this, you'd think they'd want to be building it immediately.

My concern for the new land though is that I hope there will be more rides/attractions than what they announced. Of course that goes back to the whole, "why does the prequel/original trilogy have to be contained only within Star Tours?". -shrugs- They're banking too much on the new films which rely too much on original trilogy nostalgia while taking a dump on the former Expanded Universe (yea... bitter star wars fan is bitter.. lol). Don't get me wrong though, I'm beyond excited. :)

I'm still annoyed that DHS will get fireworks for "Season of the Force" (even though they will most likely be the same ones used for SWW), while we don't. I know Disneyland Forever is "new", but dammit... I want special star wars fireworks here too! <_<

Seeing all these announcements, as well as the cool props, costumes, and videos was even better in person!

Speaking of the D23 EXPO and announcements, I wanted to share with you guys that I was an official finalist at D23 Expo's Mousequerade show! It was such an amazing experience, I had to keep it a secret for months! I didn't win, but it was still an incredible opportunity and I was so humbled and overwhelmed to be part of a show with so many amazing fans! The celebrity judges and fans at the Expo really loved my Genie costume, which was so heartwarming. Got interviewed a lot for TV, blogs, and Disney! Here's a few shots, as well as a few videos I'm in that Inside the Magic filmed!

The END of 2017! That's a ridiculously long wait. We're going to be waiting seven to eight years for this. YIKES. I hope that rumored Marvel ride will come to DCA sooner but wouldn't have they announced it by now?

Universal Creative is planning a rebuttal. We may even get a major announcement(s) before the end of the year. Now that Star Wars Land is official and the concept art is poop-your-pants beautiful, everything has changed. The Theme Park arms race has just begun...

Demo for SWL begins next fall (2016). Remember they still need to complete the new backstage facilities that are off site before they can start tearing down the old ones. That's going to take some time.

For Orlando, its a garentee. But Hollywood..i don't think so. Just because of the big wizard that's coming along the way, it might veer people off going to Hollywood.

I'm going to throw a theory.. I think the Fantasyland Train station is a goner with the expansion.

Yea no sorry... USH can't rely on Potter to save their asses... its going to be bad enough when it opens & the park will implode due to not being able to handle the crowds (they're seriously way in over their heads here).. Orlando already has projects lined up, but USH is going to need to make some major announcements for upcoming projects, very big impressive projects because while Star Wars Land doesn't open for (unfortunately) several years, they're still putting it to use starting fall of this year. (lets not forget about all of the movies being released every year starting in December, whether they're good or not).

As I said, this is the 3rd incarnation of WWOHP, while its new for this coast & will pretty much give USH operations a huge reality check from the crowds, it isn't something totally new you can't find elsewhere. Universal is going to need to strike back hard... Classic Monsters, Nintendo, Jurassic Park/World, _________ etc.. The park here will need to see a bigger transformation/expansion than the one they're doing now. Because Disney pretty much walked in and dropped the mic.

And Disney hasn't even said anything about Marvel yet.

Orlando is a guarantee of course. But do not count Hollywood out. The fact that Star Wars Land is going to Disneyland directly affects Hollywood and is the first time (with the exception of Cars Land) that Disneyland has posed a real threat since Comcast took the helm. The Studio Front Lot just got a whole lot smaller with the Star Wars Land's announcement. UC and Comcast are taking it pretty damn seriously too.

Also, Nintendo isn't the only major IP Universal has been pursuing (and close to finalizing) the past year or so. It's a good time to be a theme park fan no matter what.

Thanks bud!!! It was such an honor, and I'm still overwhelmed! Steve Davison, the Head Creative Imagineer behind World of Color and almost all of Disney's parades and nighttime spectaculars is a big fan of my costume since last year, which I was flabbergasted about!

And yeah, if construction starts in 2017, we're looking at 2020, 2021 of 2022 for an opening....which does seem like forever away. That's going off of how long it took to build Carsland, which is smaller than the planned Star Wars land.

HOWEVER, one of the reasons Cars Land took so long apparently was also because of some rules Disney had in place about limited construction hours to not disturb the rest of DCA. But with most of the land Star Wars Land will sit on being backstage facilities and currently blocked by foliage and being rather secluded, hopefully they'll change the rules and ramp up construction.

And also, we can't forget, Disney NEVER announces everything they have planned. Lots of the recent projects from the past 2 years (big and small) weren't announced at a convention, they were announced online. So, I'm extremely confident that the "rumored" Marvel ride is coming, and will come sooner than Star Wars land. They'll need an extra reason for people to stay in DCA once Star Wars land opens. And they'll also keep announcing smaller projects about reimagining existing attractions like they've done the past few years to keep interest high. I can betcha a redo for Hollywood Land is 100% next.

And the "temporary" events and overlays, like Hyperspace Mountain will only help keep the momentum going. Very exciting future.

Cars Land had a mild response at best and certainly wasn't the Universal killer they were hoping for. There was no hype and general interest until it finally opened. Star Wars is on a completely different level. People might as well start queuing up right now.

The Soundstages have no substantial weight or physical/historical importance to Universal or Comcast (Just ask SS28). They're just big empty rooms. What's keeping Universal from relocated them that out-weighs theme park possibilities?

Not disputing the relevance of soundstages, but to suggest some upcoming projects are a direct response to Star Wars just doesn't make any sense. Some of Universal's unannounced projects have been in the pipeline for months.

Do we think it's just going to be a single Marvel ride or a small land? And I don't mean land in the huge sense of Star Wars but just in that it will be more than just a ride. Like that ride plus a restaurant and a building for meet and greets?

You're right. Universal should get some news out there quickly while the public interest in theme parks is still at warp. It would be silly to think that UC just started drawing up concepts the moment SWL was announced since we both know that's not the case. I do believe however (and this is my own opinion) that Star Wars land will result in increased spending and growth on Hollywood in later years.

Honestly, any projects that Disney or Universal have announced or even have planned but haven't announced are completely independent of each other, especially in California. If anything, they're learning from each other. No project Disney or Universal will announce will be a "competitor killer" in my opinion. I really hate that term, even in Florida. It's all very friendly competition, and both resorts/parks win when the other one expands, and we as fans especially gain a lot!

But regardless, Universal and Comcast have a lot planned for USH.

The one leg up that USH has over Disneyland right now is their turn around time for new attractions tends to be quicker.

Also, I'm thrilled that Disney officially announced both on LA Times, and on the official parks blog, that Star Wars land won't affect or close Toon Town! That means the park will only get bigger and GAIN a land, not replace one! I'm thrilled :)

So I guess it's been confirmed that Star Wars will be taking over Big Thunder Ranch and nearby backstage areas. That includes Circle D, the animal barn. Say goodbye to BBQ and goats. Now I just wonder where they will host special events and performing children.

Toon Town and Big Thunder Mountain to remain untouched.

This makes more sense to me, as I said before I had no idea how they planned on doing the fireworks if Star Wars was to be built on Toon Town. It would be silly to close Star Wars early everyday.

Whoa! Awesome, Allen. What a small world, I had no idea that was you and I took your picture. You even commented to say thanks on Facebook. Had no idea it was you! Great costume! Haha

DO NOT WANT! I'm sorry, but "Soarin' over the World" should be exclusive to Epcot. And it should mostly use the countries represented in World Showcase.

I want DCA's to remain "Soarin' over California".... however, for the love of god, change out the Disneyland flyover to non-Christmas please! I don't mind if its the holiday season, but sheesh... (actually that would be an amazing holiday overlay... "Soarin' over California: Holidays"... MAKE THIS A THING!) lol

Back to Star Wars Land, c'mon guys stop it with the 2024 nonsense. That's just people stirring poop up and exaggerating things. We all like to make fun of Disney's lumbering construction timelines compared to Universal, but let's not let jokes become actual spouted fact.

It'll be 2020 or 2021. There's no freaking way it's not done in time for WDW's 50th. Avatar took six years with heavy delays, and unless Star Wars Force Awakens shockingly bombs or something (which it won't), this one will remain right on track.
