Nah. That involves building a ride in EPCOT.

I hope the ride in DLP is super popular and a people-eater. They would love that clone...half of it is already built!

Must never get rid of Impressions de France though.

I know the difference between the two. They can pull off Carsland in that time if that "want" to. If they pay for it. Harder projects on Disney's end have been accomplished in that timeframe over the last 45 years.

They've accomplished a lot in the last 45 years. Not much in the last 6. I'm just saying right now, no signs point to it being possible. They've haven't shown they can't do it, simply that they won't.

Remember that the super long build out of the New Fantasyland is intentional. They are trying to spread it out over as many years as possible. They could easily have the 7DMT finished by the end of Summer this year if they wanted but they are extending past October to carry it into the next fiscal year.

I am still waiting on any kind of confirmation on this, but I think Burbank, who has pretty much been micro-examining WDW books since Meg was "promoted", sees the writing on the wall as far as numbers/profits are concerned. EVERYONE knows that WDW's numbers AND guest spending are down. New Fantasyland isn't helping. And they have nothing else in the pipeline to stop the bleeding. They are also fully aware that Universal is attempting to woo WDW's bored/fed up "dedicated" fan base with new exciting attractions and "Traditional" Disney Quality and Service. So WDW's numbers are going to get worse before they get better and the only thing at this point that will stop the falling numbers is attractions. BIG, EXCITING, AND DETAILED ATTRACTIONS! So I would not be surprised if Burbank forced TDO to take the bitter pill and pony up the bucks to fast track Cars Land. I almost think Burbank may do it just to "punish" the remaining execs at TDO for being arrogant and apathetic. TDO really has hurt the brand.

One problem with that.

NextGen.

Burbank already dropped 1.5+ billion dollars on NextGen in WDW. Are they willing to dump 500+ on Cars Land to get it done in time? I'd be shocked if they were.

Agreed. Things almost have to get worse before they can get better.

You only have to read the boards to see how many folk are stating to migrate, they are hurting it real bad and have been doing for a long long time. It will take a huge effort and $$$$s to stop the hemorrhage,

It will get worse, a lot worse. Watch when Uni open Springfield, Transformers, HP2 and more whilst Disney limp along with 7DMT. The times they are a changin.

With the way WDW's numbers are going, and the full on MMA-style beat down Universal is working on, they almost have to regardless of what happens with My MagicGEN+®. I am hearing that occupancy rates at some of the Deluxes are bouncing off the low 40% range. While the parks are pretty full of South American Tour Groups, they aren't staying at the Deluxes. And they have found that AoA didn't bring in anymore guests, it only cannibalized the occupancy rates at the values and even some of the Mods.

I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't use the time between Summer 2013 and when Cars Land opens to do a much needed major refurb to the Poly simply to take those rooms off the inventory for a year or longer. I would call that a "Strategic Shuttering". Similar to what they did after 9/11, but using the time productively.

The only thing that can really help Disney now is Carsland and a possible Star Wars land. New Fanatsyland isn't as grand as Disney has advertised it, it's not bad but it's not nearly as jaw-dropping as WWHP is. I think there is enough room for a Carsland, they could use what is currently Lights, Motor, Action and a large chunk of the Backlot Tour. On a side note, I think it's ironic that the Backlot tour is the best place for any expansion. The problem is that Disney has land-locked the studios by surrounding the majority of it with this really dated ride. In fact, a lot of the rides are very dated....

There are MANY things that could help Disney now. Pigeon-holing the company like this is what got them into this mess

This how I'd revamp DHS. Carsland, Turn American Idol attraction into a Phineas and Ferb E-Ticket, The Incredibles (Given that Diney makes another film), Monsters Inc., and scrap the Voyage of the Little Mermaid (Kingdom Hearts Attraction, or Epic Mickey Attraction?) and for the crazy idea: Re route the road and make way for an entire Star Wars land.

I agree with Disneyhead. If Disney wants to build it in that time frame, they could do it, especially since its a clone and the tech is already there. What's been missing from TDO is the will, and if your boss tells you to do it, then it will get done. Heck, Disneyland was built in a year. And construction techniques have improved, even though you wouldn't know it by TDO. It doesn't take an Einsten to know that if attendance & hotel occupancy is flat or down, that you need to take a different approach. HP worked for Universal & their foot is on the pedal. Carsland helped turned around a dying park. What's to figure?

I do think that one reason that it will be Cars Land is that like Transformers, it IS a clone and CAN be Fast Tracked. I am sure there will be some tweaks, but basically it is plug and play. And I wouldn't be surprised if Luigi's becomes a spinner.

Well now this is interesting, what if and I use that term vaguely.

If Disney fast tracks Carsland, does Universal sit idle with current plans? Do they speed up Potter? Or even fast track another major addition for 2016 to continue the onslaught?

Let me say this, once Transformers is complete there are several areas of Potter that will ramp up to 24hrs a day construction.

WWOHP is going to be such a dynamic tourist draw that anything Disney does will be lesser in comparison. Uni is in a really good spot right now. With so many projects already started and/or ready to start, they have the flexibility of attacking on the grounds of their choice. They've outmanuevered Disney for the short term.

No matter what, Potter will open before Cars Land. But I wouldn't be surprised if the KidZone redo gets Grander with a well known IP and an Early 2016 opening. I think sandwiching it between Potter and a big cartoon land would slay.

And even if Disney Fast Tracks Cars Land I don't think that it will be done before early 2016. I don't think Nov. 2015 is possible.

Thank you for saying this. We can all be angry or faithless with Disney, but we all should hope that Disney would do this to only further propel the Orlando Nuclear Arms Race. A fast-tracked Carsland would certainly lower DEFCON.

Theme Park Wars are great for the customers. It doesn't get better than great new attractions and good maintainance. Competition is good.

If this is truly being fast tracked for late 2015/early 2016, do you think they'd announce it before D23? I mean, if they really want to get it done by then, they need to start soon.

At this point It doesn't really matter what they announce. Half the stuff they announce never sees the light of day anyways
