Space Fantasy isn't happening, no appeal to most US visitors.

Exactly, Universal only removes attractions that aren't popular, have high maintenance, or operation costs. I don't think E.T. is unpopular and it probably isn't that expensive to operate or maintain. An expensive ride would be Mummy and even the kiddie coasters, because they need to maintain the coaster trains and for Mummy keep refilling the fuel for the fire.

Point is, E.T. won't be going anytime soon.:happy:

E.T. is an absolute classic. It's removal would strike a nerve with a lot of people. The queue line smell of the forest is more than enough reason to keep it around!

I don't know. T2 closed in Hollywood so they could build Minion Mayhem, which we obviously already have here. Unless they come up with something new and cool that will be a draw, I don't see T2 on the chopping block here for the time being. It is going to be hard to build any sort of new experience in that area without tearing a lot of stuff down. If I had to bet money, I'd say T2 has a better chance of surviving the next 5 years than MIB does.

I don't think MIB is going anywhere anytime soon. It's interactive and is very re-rideable.

As for ET I hope it isn't on the chopping block. It doesn't seem like it is from some of the posts. I did see a video on YouTube of some kid ranting about ET closing in Orlando. When I first saw the video my heart sank. But ET isn't closing so I have no clue what that kid was talking about.

I personally would love a replacement. I do not find the ride fun, and it really shows its age. It reminds me of Peter Pan's Flight in regards to I cannot figure out why people love it as much as they do. I find the part in the woods in the beginning much more interesting than the Alien Planet.

Rode ET for the first time in years acouple weeks ago. I couldnt even remember the ride it was almost as if it was the first time I rode it. I actually enjoyed it alot.

Yes, the queue in the forest after you get inside is very well done, and the ride track is still smooth and well done. Maybe just update a few of the effects, and I think the ride could stay for a long time.

You know what... I have this feeling that if Busch didn't have the Sesame Street rights... It would be VERY likely that it would get a Spaghetti Space Chase redo.

I don't think Universal will remove E.T. anytime soon, but I could see them doing a big refurb on it, maybe add some new effects, update the animations or maybe even bring back Spielberg to shoot another pre-show.

I really hope they dont get rid of ET. I just rode it for the first time in years and actually liked it. I will agree though that the end isnt that great, but i love the part in the forest and the police. It could use a refurb though.

I feel like I'm the only person in the world that thinks ET is the best ride of its kind. It really brings you into a different world with its incredible theming and has a incredible finale on the green planet. It's just a overall cool ride with a great story, scenes, animatronics and it's just a overall blast. Everybody I know loves it, it should really stay. Kidzone has enough space for like 3 dark rides and a couple shows including the expansion pad. I see no reason to take it down

There is word that Universal is working on a Battlestar Galactica reboot...why pay licensing fees to Paramount for Trek or Warner Brothers when they could promote their own properties?

You have company. My GF and I ride ET as our first attraction while on vacation, and end our vacation riding ET. Love the scent of the forest and the ride really transports us to a excellent theme park experience. Great nostalgia and ambiance.
