Anyone seeing AMC stating they will no longer screen Universal pictures due to Universal's statement at doing more film releases simultaneously in theaters and premium at home rentals? Seemed like a big statement to me...

Theatrical Future/PVOD Thread

https://deadline.com/2020/04/trolls-world-tour-theater-owners-slam-universal-over-pvod-release-1202920128/ It appears theater owners are panicking....The longer this goes on, the faster theatres go obsolete...

Crazy thought. They can put graphics on the field denoting yard lines etc in the NFL broadcasts. I wonder if processing is such that they could fill the stands and bleachers of other games with spectators for television broadcast to give the games a bit of buzz... including crowd sounds etc. The processing power would be through the roof but there may be *work-arounds to make it less so.

It might make the experience more compelling much like a laugh track does for non-audience comedy shows. Not really inspired as I am sure they are looking into the feasibility of it.

I don't watch sports at all... but I do want the country to be in a more satisfied state so... :)

*render the game's stadium and crowds right now as a giant video canvas that loops. then all you need to do is lock in the panel to the stadium and in turn the perspective of the camera angle following the players.

You can do all the things you want to simulate a crowd, but it'll never be like a real game because the enrgy of an ACTUAL crowd won't be there.

I posted earlier about the cut out ideas.

Something like this should be feasible. They’ve been simulating crowds and sounds in computer games for years.

I just don't think it's worth the effort or wasted money. It's gonna be weird either way, it would be almost weirder to make it as if fans were in attendance North Korea style.

(I have strong opinions lol)

$29.99 to have your face in the crowd for 1-3 games... more or less where you sit. Capitalism could make this work.

Back in 1999 I mused to my design coworkers that cgi might create some possibilities for the porn industry... virtual reality stuff... That was 21 years ago.. how did that work out?

As Scott said, they have made it work for video games... and anything is better, far better than a bunch of meat tumbling around on an empty field in an empty stadium. I would watch sports just to see the tech at work.

The cutouts is feasible, but that’s about all I think they should waste their time on. And the cutouts would only be to make the players feel a bit more comfortable in an awkward situation.

California cracks down as the rest of the country opens stupid early. I may end up being wrong, but I think hindsight will be very kind to Newsom.

I really hope Newsom is a President in my lifetime. California I never moved to because I was scared of all the climate drawbacks, however their Governor seems on top of his crap. California clearly leading the way here.

Bad move. Outdoor transmission is rare, and people need to go outside. Should, at the very least, only disallow people using blankets and sitting there like Florida did

Boy, the pricing on those is not what I was expecting. $20 for a 4pk isn't too bad. I was expecting $20 each. They do look a little cheaper quality compared to many of the other offerings in the market though.

It doesn't have a metal nosepiece which a lot of them do, that adds in a little bit of complexity.

I checked the Universal merch site and they don't have any yet that I see.

‘Cloth’ is a little vague, I’m assuming these are more to ‘pretty up’ and go over a surgical mask etc...
