Universal just builds The Greater Movie Ride and includes Wicked in it.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I've seen mention of basically a second Citywalk over by Epic at some point. Does anyone have any knowledge on if that's actually likely? Or is that more of a wishlist thing? Citywalk is my happy place and I'd LOVE to have a second one Though I'd imagine that's years and years and years away, if it's coming at all

The prevailing thought is, if it were to happen, it would be similar to the original Citiwalk and be built when they are adding a second park by Epic. So, obviously, that would be too far off to have any certainty to it.

Dang. That's what I was worried about lol especially because I'd imagine expansions will come way before a second park, so for now, Citywalk 2.0 is just a dream

That's a good point though. Makes sense! Thanks!

While I wouldn't say the existing Citywalk is struggling, I wouldn't say it's exactly thriving either, especially compared to Disney Springs. As things stand now, dropping down a second "Citywalk-like" area in the resort would likely cannibalize the attendance of the existing one, and create unnecessary competition between the two. Even if it is many years down the line, I don't know if a project like this would actually be a viable business move.

Agree, CityWalk is doing just ok.

Even with the tremendous success and increase of onsite hotel rooms, CityWalk still doesn't do enough business to justify a 2nd entertainment district. Bigfire, Antojitos, Vivo and all of the upper level restaurants/bars don't open until dinner time. Meanwhile, Disney Springs is jam packed from brunch to dinner time. Heck, even the parks inside the park struggle at times (specifically Confisco & Lombard's).

Obviously, Disney Springs has the advantage of free parking and being far from the parks to discourage people from parking there and using it as free parking for the parks.

I could see a scenario where Universal builds a restaurant or two with a small shop like DAK's entrance plaza with a Rainforest Cafe, but I doubt we see something substantial.

But would a southern Citiwalk Canibalize CW 1.0 or would it draw the Convention crowd away from I drive?

I'd say the first. I-Drive does well thanks to free parking and easier to access for hotels along I-Drive.

I feel like EU is going to get 1 more original land between Potter and Stardust Racers. Potter will get one more addition (ride or dining). Although many of you will probably disagree with me....I don't think Nintendo gets an expansion in this park (USF needs Nintendo desperately). Monsters probably gets its boat ride.

I thought the Nintendo expansion was the only one in active development unless that’s changed recently ?

Wasn't HP supposed to be getting an expansion sooner than later as well? Did that fizzle out too? It was the rumored Great Hall restaurant wasn't it?

It was the just the restaurant I believe.

Have no clue what the 2nd attraction is suppose to be or if it’s still in heavy consideration. I truly hope that project is being fast tracked just for the sake of extra capacity for the park.

In a perfect world, the Great Hall restaurant will take the space of Pizza Predattoria at IOA (and the restrooms) with a path along the FJ queue. Theme the building to a Jurassic Park lab.

Moved to this thread:

but I've been blue-skying (is that a word?) ideas for where Wicked would go in our resort. I'm going off the assumption the quote of "significant" attractions means a land and not a single attraction. The 3 most obvious ones I can think of are:

LC replacement: Zelda rumors have gone dry so maybe this is a better idea. Plus you kind of have a theater + room for an e ticket right there

Epic expansion: self explanatory. More room to be creative.

MIB + FF plot: In theory they can use this area as a major expansion while also closing off the site for construction without disrupting the park. HHN would be affected but that's an issue for later.

Let me know where yall think is best of if there's a better idea.

I think you kill two birds with one stone and put it in IOA. IOA gets a musical/entertainment component and Wicked fits the lax storybook/literature aspect of IOA.

Pokemon fits better at USF with a Diagon-style Tokyo facade sheltering the land.

I also prefer this route since Epic won't necessarily need anything major soon to draw crowds unless the park tanks (which is doubtful with the power of IP). Don't get me wrong, I think Epic Universe is missing a more classic family-friendly dark ride, but the other two parks are in more need of substantial investment.

I actually second the motion of Islands. Checks off so many boxes of needs (demographic, storybook elements as you mentioned, and a need for entertainment). I think an all-ages slow moving dark ride and a book report style stage show based on the movie would be perfect.

Wasn't there a rumor about SLOP coming to Epic by an executive or something. I believe it could go in the expansion pad near Nintendo with a little park added with it.

While I’m clamoring for SLOP to come to UOR, that space doesn’t seem best fit for it…I personally think SLOP should get placed in the Illumination section at Studios. Bulldoze the amphitheater (not gonna happen) and use that space to put in SLOP to create a fully fleshed out Illumination Ave.

It’s Insane to me that universal is moving this fast with everything compared to Disney using Disneys imagineers and everything is not thrown together for the sake of building something under a new ip universal is actually listening to the fans it’s insane of course Disney is going to the exuces of oh it’s Disney and can get away with some things but still it’s crazy.

No. But there were rumors about a Luigi's Mansion expansion for EU that would have had a ride with a setup akin to Pets but with interactive elements.
