Oh I agree, and I have bashed this many times. Just stating when the track is completed and when it actually opens is irrelevant.

Well, SDMT isn't opening 4 years after FLE either. I get the point though.

But it has been 4 years since NFE was announced, so technically, Hock is correct.

But he mentioned opening, so technically, he isn't. :P

And this often gets lost in SDMT talk, as the timeline always seems to get overblown, but it's been 2.5 years or so since they broke ground on the coaster, not 4 years. Still longer than one would like, but it hasn't been as long as many make it out to be. Yes, TF was done in a year, but that's just not practical to expect of a normal build time (although the current time is still long). Somewhere in the middle of the two I think is reasonable.

But...this is (not trying to offend anyone) just a coaster. Nothing groundbreaking is going on with it. Yeah , cool cars and all but overall its just a coaster. It is abnormal, in my opinion, to have a coaster finish more than a year before it opens. Most coaster sit like 2-3 month after track completion but I won't compare this coaster to that because lets face it, its pretty highly themed. Can some one help me out...when it comes to everest how long was it From track completion to opening/softs. Let's also look at a more recent project, grizzly mountain. What was that construction time gram, and that was a highly technical coaster...

This is a coaster that's going to have a dark ride section, to be entirely fair. Regardless, we've gone over plenty of times how long this project has taken.

Barely two inside show scenes. I don't think I would call that a dark ride section. And if this is what is going to start passing for dark ride sections in Disney, they are in serious trouble. LOL.

Is SDMT a phase two attraction? Or is it the end of phase one?
Because I don't think NFL will have a second phase until the Avatar, Star Wars, and possible Cars lands are completed, sometime around 2017/18.
Unless phase two is a Tangled dark ride and restaurant. That could be done by 2016.

Snow White Mine Train is technically Phase 4 but after that don't expect anything major at the MK for 15-27 years.

Ok, since I live in Australia, I can give reasons why this can not be compared. Firstly the building the dark ride portion is in, was pre-existing, and the only real changes were the holes for the ride to go through. The dark ride section itself is tiny and is fairly basic, and finally here in Australia, or parks don't mess around. Roller coasters get built in less then a month. Sometimes (basic) theming doesn't go in until the day before the ride opens, and is finished while it is open. The same park opened a ride that is a mix between, BLAB, TSMM and Spiderman/transformers. It was built in a year. (building was pre-existing) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KaCO81BQ4kk . So Australia is not really the best market to compare with.

I don't know about this. I think after AK and Studios refurbs they will come back to MK and address tomorrowland. I don't think that will be 15 years down the line, probably more like 8 - 10. Which is still sad and pathetic.

The last major addition to the MK was 21 years ago. Burbank MADE TDO do the FLE and Star Tours 2.0. Until I see TDO willingly improve their product, I will continue to call it as I see it. TDO needs to stop treating their guests with out right contempt.

I agree about the past, but haven't we heard of heads rolling and change coming to TDO, this would be why other projects in studios and AK are finally gaining traction. And if this is the case (which I think it might be) then they won't wait another 21 years.

You know what I think is the saddest part of the whole "Disney and Me" story? At this point, I don't even care. I have given up. Thrown in the towel. The whole "Hope>Disappointment>Anger back to Hope" cycle gets old after a while. If Disney builds something cool? Cool, I'll go enjoy it. If they don't? Well, then we're back to where we are now. And that is talking about and experiencing new cool stuff elsewhere.

I agree with you. Until ground is broke on something, I don't get excited about it. I was at first disappointed in Little Mermaid from pics, but after being on it, I kind of liked it. But I have learned to keep my expectations low. Now I need to learn that lesson for SW. :)

I haven't been to SW in a while. I haven't even seen Turtle Trek yet. But I was considering a visit to see Antarctica, but after the overwhelmingly bad reviews, I have reconsidered.
