Definitely not the worst theme park attraction of all time. It's just simply massively fails to meet expectations. It is a cheesy tram ride with screens. If you are okay with that then it's a decent ride.

In my opinion, Universal blew itself for not deciding to create a scene based on 1930s New York, where Kong was wrecking the city, after the 1986 one got burned down in L.A. 10 years ago. That would have given Universal more space and details for a practical attraction and save the company from tons of criticism and reputation for setting a precedent for future 3d/SIM attractions, like Jimmy Fallon and the recent F&F.

I'm still guessing SuperStar Limo beats it for that award

Poor planning and communication between departments is something we haven't really talked about. Minor rant time...

On the Hollywood tram tour, right before you enter the musion scene you're told to turn off your phone, once. That way when Roman's phone vibrates in the musion scene they can make the joke that he tipped off Shaw...

In the Orlando version we're told in two preshows by multiple people, both on screen and in the flesh, to turn off our cell phones. We're told before the ride starts, and it is posted on signs. We're told one last time in voice over in the set-dressed scene just prior to the musion. At that point it goes from cheeky little joke to plain out rude overkill.

Not to mention: After the two preshows is a screen that tells you to get your phone out and download the app to PLAY ALONG WHILE WAITING! But hey, turn your phones off y'all!

I like the ride fine, for what it is... but there's a lot of elements to don't seem very cohesive to me. And as a theme park fan that loves to appreciate all the careful thought and attention put into every little detail, things like this bother me. Now on re-rides when I'm told to turn off my cell phone, it's like nails on a chalkboard to my ears.

There should be rules of etiquette for theme parks to not make your guests jump through too many hoops, else you start to annoy them.

If they sold those in the queue, I’d be completely on board with this ride.

Alicia, on this subject, did you notice eastereggs about Earthquake? Did they paid some homeage to the retired ride? This kind of stuff is always fun to me.

There's 2 electrical boxes boxes powered down before the load station, one for Dissaster and one for Earthquake

The sign behind the load station is for Embarcadero, which was the train station stop on Earthquake’s final scene.

I just look at this ride and i think how i would react back when I was a kid., even now really...

When I went the first time I couldn't stop talking about how cool it was that Jaws literally came blasting out of the water! The ceiling collapsed and a tanker truck fell and almost hit us when it exploded!

We just don't come out of rides like this with any tangible like memories anymore

I don't know, I think SuperStar Limo has a "it's so bad, it's good" quality to it.

I'm kind of sad it's gone, and I never got to experience it. I guarantee if it was still around it would have some crazy cult following.

F&F and SSL are the only rides I have ridden that after it was over, I was all, "WTF were they thinking?"

I don’t know there are some parts of Journey to Atlantis that make me wonder. Like did the nice princess just morph into a weird looking Medusa? Aww that poor seahorse! Wait, is that the theme song from Beetlejuice? What’s going on in this ride?

I think it's a new trend. We had the vulva shaped pool at the new hotel, at Disney you are about to be able to ride A.S.S., Universal is adding an ejaculation show where you probably get wet and don't get me started on "pie on a stick". I guess the parks are done with soccer moms and just like HBO and Netflix evolve to a more adult content? ;)

I'm having a hard time getting over all the money they spent flying Ron Meyer, Donna Langley, and the entire cast to the opening of this turd. The cast demands alone on hotels would make everyone cringe and all of this for something that no one wants and no one likes. It's tone-deaf and sad.

To be fair, it's the only major new attraction coming to UOR this year. Regardless of our opinions, or even Universals staff, they have to push it as the big thing of the year.

That said, there is more to look forward too, *stares at Lagoon*

This is how you get free publicity. You create events that the media will cover.

There are people out there that really like this ride. Then there's people like me that think it's an okay ride but still worthwhile to go on. My family much prefers it over Disaster.

The first time I rode I spoke to the couple sitting in front of me. They said it was their third time on the ride and they loved it. Most of the kids that got off the ride really enjoyed it.

I'm not saying everybody loved it. The family sitting next to me definitely did not enjoy it.
