All I can say is I'm an actor and I understood that, going into the reading, seeing it would be a very different experience. However, the reason scripts are available for many major shows historically and in modern times is because at heart, the scripts are still the story. And this story is deeply flawed. At it's best, it's a loose interpretation of what might happen after the original stories. At it's worst, it might as well be fanfiction. Poorly written fanfiction at that. I figured it was exaggerated too when I read negative reviews without spoilers. That being said, the characterization is off and without spoiling anything, the plot twist, as well as the plot devices, are so out of line with the original stories that I'm still reeling at the fact that she signed off on them. Also, many lines are very strangely out of character. I understand visuals and actors add a very important, very large dimension to a play. However, none of those things changes the fact that it really just doesn't feel like Harry Potter to me.
Sorry for the rant, it's been bugging me for a bit. I would like to discuss it further with you at some point so go ahead and pm or go to the Cursed Child thread if you want to too...

If this gets replaced it'll be interesting to see what direction they take it in...
