I only got to do this once, but quite enjoyed my one ride-thru. I didn’t realize that Hagrid is there with you every step of the way via constant voice-over narration. There’s just something satisfying knowing that Hagrid is always there, it kind makes you feel safer despite some dangerous moments (your bike stalling out, the Devil’s Snare scene).

I love how your bikes essentially have a mind of their own and the entire ride takes place in the forbidden forest (the show scene with the Devil’s Snare is dark, atmospheric, and cool). The multiple moments of sudden acceleration were quite thrilling and fun too.

Unfortunately, some of the animatronics were non-functional during my journey (the Hagrid AA and Fluffy were completely motionless, while the Unicorns at the very end had incredibly limited movement). Overall, a fun ride with some intense moments, but not so intense so that little ones can still ride and enjoy it. Very well themed too. That said, I don’t think I’d give it another ride until all the animatronics are fully functional again.

I first got to experience this ride last year. I was a little nervous at first, but wow was it ever fantastic!

Ended up riding it 14 times over 4 days. Tried bike and sidecar, and definitely prefer the bike. Loved the open feel, and hitting the purple button at just the right moment to pretend I was activating the dragon’s breath.

Next visit is early December, and I’m hoping for another 10 rides.

This twitter user is actually wrong. It's not actually under construction but being torn down. You can see it fully constructed in previous pics. I believe the building is actually already gone since the time this photo was taken.

tldr: expanding the maintenance bay to hopefully run full 10 trains

Amazing it's been that long, and the popularity has never lessened one iota. The lines are always long. One of UC's best ever. Hagrids was their big rebound from the F&F mistake. Kudos to the UC team for their work on this.

This is great to hear! As an experienced ride inspector, this video sounds legit to me. You can’t just go flinging coaster trains out on the course while someone else is inspecting the other components of the ride.

It’s interesting to find out that they didn’t have the space available to build a big enough garage for all 10 trains. But I have an appreciation for Universal’s willingness to solve this problem. I really hope this helps keep the line from building up!

Yes, if you can keep the line from backing up from the get go, then maybe the line will be manageable all day long. That would be nice!

Will this help with the ride eventually getting Express?

Unfortunately, yes.

It should diminish Express's impact on Velocicoaster, unless Universal is waiting on this project to debut their own form of Individual Lightning Lane for 1-2 attractions per park.

For those familiar with ride ops there... is this going to make a noticeable difference in the mornings or is it more of a nice to have for TMs sort of thing?

Word on the street is it'll help the maintenance team perform daily maintenance and inspections on all trains. Considering Hagrid frequently opens late for EPA, I guess they identified this as a weak point for hourly capacity and justified the upgrades.

Seeing some people commenting on Bluesky about this rides issues. It does seem that hagrids still has days of significant down time. Are there anyways for this ride to be more reliable? Or is this just the way this ride is going to be?

It's probably as reliable as it'll be these days. Downtime is not that common anymore (97% uptime over the last two weeks) though this is actually a funny coincidence you asked this now because it's down right now!

I had no issues with it during my trip in September -- only weather-related delays.

I think the goal is to get the ride up and running at maximum capacity each morning to improve waits at the start of the day, but still deal with the typical technical issues like sensors & other similar situations. Ideally this will reduce the need to stop operations as they remove/add a vehicle.

This might be a dumb question and kinda applies to all coasters, but why not keep the max available amount of trains on the ride at all times?

Maintenance, stacking trains leading to a rolling stop, it might not be the best way to get the ride up in the morning, etc.
