How would you guys feel about previous scare zone themes being used as Terror Trams? Like Exterminatiorz, Urban Inferno, or Dark Christmas?

Back in 2007, Universal Studios Florida did The Thing: Assimilation HHN maze based on the 1982 movie then again in 2009, when some scenes of the 1982 film were part of the "Silver Screams" attraction. Only in 2011 did both USH and USF did a maze based on the prequel. Personally, I feel the 1982 movie might contain some similarities, even though it would some notable differences (the ending for example) and would confuse the audience and guests if they know it's a prequel or sequel.

Wasn’t the 2007 Thing in Orlando an original sequel to 1982? I could’ve sworn I heard that somewhere. But yeah Hollywood has never done the 1982 version and it would still be a “never been done before” property

No it wouldn't, I'll tell you right now people really don't care. All my friends who love HHN are GP and regardless if a maze is coming back again, they wouldn't notice. They love the classics. In fact, I'd go as far as to say HHN Hollywood NEEDS The Thing this year.

Agreed. If they managed to get The Thing, IT, Stranger Things, & AHS(regardless of Asylum or Cult since they’re both requested) in the same year then this year will be very packed and highly rated. Plus, with the current lineup there’s no “throwback” IP which The Thing could take the form of

I wouldn't hold my breath for this year though, there's not a lot of talk among Universal Creative team about The Thing coming back. Maybe in a few years, but I doubt it for this year, and I just don't see that way.

I'm not aware it was the sequel to the 1982 film, as it's never been made before nor explicitly stated as such, so it would confuse the audience if it is. Even so, I don't agree with Universal Studios with having one, as the Thing might be too similar to the one used for the prequel in 2011, even if it's explicitly from the 1982 film. I don't think John Murdy is really uppity about The Thing for 2018 as there isn't as much enthusiasm from them about the maze. We have Stranger Things, AHS (before the Disney/Fox deal might be approved or not), Conjuring, IT, Alien (Not Alien vs Predator thing, and before the Disney/Fox might be approved or not), certain Blumhouse movies (Get Out, Split, etc), all which have never used before for HHN. Maybe we should focus on that before we could consider the Thing, so to make room for potentials for the new, never-before-used HHN mazes.

Conjuring has been confirmed as not coming this year(despite everyone wanting it WB won’t budge), Alien is owned by Disney and is probably not coming, and Blumhouse Vol 2 is probably not happening. The thing with Get Out is that Murdy said he won’t do it because of its social commentary, and the rights for Split are all over the place. I’m just saying the 1982 The Thing isn’t as unlikely as it seems. And also, the original Thing has never been done at Hollywood so it’s still never been done before.

Just because it isn't being discussed, it means that one IP would not come.

Honestly, you are giving the GP too much credit, as most of them probably have never been to the 2011 event. The only people that would bring a stir, is those who have experienced Assimilation in Hollywood. And that the perception of the two versions that year were also different on both coasts, so that's something that may need to be taken into consideration.

Honestly, I get the feeling if The Thing is coming, it's going to get over hyped ala AWIL. But that for most people, it'd be a completely new maze.

Alien isn't been owned by Disney. The Disney/Fox deal is already subject to antitrust review, which takes 12 to 18 months. If it's rejected, then Fox remains a major movie studio or gets bought out by another company (most likely Comcast, as they're the only company with money to do so), and Universal might have a chance to use Alien as a full maze. The 1982 film Thing has never been done before for HHN, but the mazes might be a bit similar except with a few scenes not seen between the two versions. I'm just saying don't hold your breath about it. Will it come this year? Maybe, but for me, I'm really starting to doubt it.

For Alien I read somewhere that Disney wanted to do an Alien ride a while ago but opted out of it since it’s a kid park, which was why it was in the Great Movie Ride; which is why Universal did AvP since it was the only way to get theme parks to the Alien without going to Disney. Not sure if it was a real story but if it was then Alien is most likely not coming to HHN again without some extreme luck

I'm also not sure if Disney still holds the theme park rights to Alien. It seems to me that its rights have been left in the limbo ever since Disney closed down the Alien attraction in 2003 and the Great Movie Ride last year. I know Universal Studios ended the Ghostbuster theme park rights around 12 years ago, so other companies have a chance to pick it up. If NBCUniversal gets a chance to pick up 20th Century Fox (if the Disney/Fox deal is rejected and if the NBCUniversal/Fox deal is instead approved by antitrust regulators), Universal might start to do the full-Alien maze attraction for HHN, which I have been dreaming about since childhood back in the late 1990s. Alien HHN maze would have been far more hyped up than AvP.

I agree, hopefully Fox doesn’t decide to get owned by that damn mouse. A solo Alien maze would be sooooo good, very expensive though. I’d hope that if the day an Alien maze comes they would combine elements from the modern franchise, the white Aliens from Covenant and a lot of stuff from Prometheus seemed made for HHN

So would Universal actually be committed to do a Thing Maze? It seems very expensive and Murdy sounded hesitant but here’s hoping

Yeah, but it's Disney, they're never gonna do an adult-oriented HHN event like Universal and Knott's Berry Farm are doing. Back in the 1990s, Disney World was thinking about doing an adult-oriented Halloween event because they were losing out money to Universal Orlando's HHN, which were and are very popular among fans, guests, and critics. I just hope the Disney/Fox deal doesn't happen, period.

I respect your opinion too but judging by the latest HHN post, it doesn't seem reluctant it might give a go-ahead, so I have to agree to disagree.

In that sense we’ve never done the original or the remake. I feel like if The Thing comes it might be placed in one of the new locations or in Waterworld
