I would really hope they find a way to communicate to people that it won't be open. I mean I know it's a horror event, but it doesn't mean people aren't going to go in expecting Diagon to be open.

Gotcha.
Okay, so Croatoa is our word, what is our horror?
That word has popped up over the years in relation to many disappearances (Ambrose Bierce and Amelia Earhart spring to mind) but I am not sure what this indicates other than some sort of spookiness about the word. Bierce did write the famous horror story An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge, but that story seems awful similar to last year's Afterlife for it to be that.

Well, I teach American History (at an elementary level, mind you) and I think it could be plenty creepy. When the first colony at Roanoke disappeared into thin air, all that was left next to the empty settlement was the word Croatoa scratched into a tree. MAny believed the Croatoan Indian tribe was responsible for a massacre, since there was no sign of the vanished settlers. (In reality, they probably just all married off with the Indians and went elsewhere) I would imagine the creepiness factor being walking through a darkened forest, fort, colonial house, cornfield, etc. with creatures and half dead colonists popping out at you. Again, Teebin suggested Croatoa, not Roanoke, but that is the only place that I have ever heard Croatoa mentioned...

"The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ — Diagon Alley™ will not be open during this event." It's posted on the Attractions page of the website. I have no sympathy for the uninformed consumer when the information is right there.

I think even if its Universals call they would not open up. Why would you give away all that investment for a HHN ticket? We are heading down in Sept with a group of friends. Several were not going to go in the day time (and dont have annual passes) but were hoping HP would be open at night. Now they are going to have to buy 2 day passes just to see HP. I could see after several years opening it up, but it would be awhile if it was my call.

I didn't suggest anything... I hinted and the hint was guessed correctly and I confirmed it. So, it is based in a loose kind of way on American colonial history. I can only "assume" :look: that they will bend and stretch history and answer the mystery for us; show you what really happened. So, let your imaginations run wild.

If anyone is curious on the subject of the Croatoan, here is a relatively short but informative article. A lot of promise for a house if this is indeed the route they are going!

Indeed! I am quite looking forward to what they can do! I love stories of the paranormal and I love history! Should be a wonderful combination!

So, we have:

1. Walking Dead mega maze
2. Croatoan inspired original maze
3-8. ???

I will, again, suggest that it's probably very likely that we could see one of this year's Universal horror releases as a house or scarezone. Possibilities:

- The Purge: Anarchy
- As Above, So Below
- Dracula Untold
- Ouija

I have no inside info on this particular point, but would the Nightingales be a stretch for the Croatoan setting? They're no stranger to notable historical locales...

I really want a Purge house with scare zone. Maybe the Parade building?

Universal set up a Purge maze here in Miami to promote the new movie. I think it's touring too. The way they described it made it out sound like Alone at Busch Gardens.

With some mentions of Alien that I've seen around the forums, I have to wonder if the house were to happen if it might be themed/connected to the new Alien: Isolation game that will be releasing in early October. It seems to be very much "Alien" and rooted very deeply in horror, over something like say the Colonial Marines game and "Aliens".

It would cover both a great classic horror IP as well as a video game house for the year. Just thinking out loud.

A HHN ticket is 96 bucks. It's not like they'd be giving it away.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the point of the Nightengales that they showed up during wars? I could be remembering wrong, though

I'm pretty sure you are right, hasn't there been talk about them in a civil war setting? What if they fought against the dogs of war?!?! :jaw:
