Is there a good chance that Truth or Dare & Get Out could show up in Horrors of Blumhouse 2? I was looking up Blumhouse films and there’s really not that many films that don’t have potential rights issues that would also be draws(why Ouija, PA, & Split probably can’t come).

Unless the IP is a personal favorite or contractually directed, Orlando A&D tries to avoid bringing stuff back too frequently. They initially pitched Stranger Things as including seasons 1&2 because their preference is to do it once (Marketing/Management split it so season 2 could come next year). Purge, as an IP, is pretty one note and not really a "must-get." Also, Universal Orlando is more cognizant of gun-violence/mass-killings than most.

We're in an announcement "drought" for the next couple weeks (unless they sneak one in next week) then back to a regular schedule. But IPs will remain the priority.

I thought they were alternating between IPs and originals?

Wonder if the vortex tunnel is gonna show up this year considering it sounds like we have no 3D house. Same with spine rip since that seems like that would’ve fit Slaughter Sinema

Good for no Truth or Dare. Hopefully HDD gets the solo treatment

I’ve always liked going through the vortex tunnel, I thought it was used really good for Alice.

Yeah, definitely not hoping for the solo treatment for that ip(HDD) but let’s see what happens.

I’m excited to see how Surprise ends up since the Blumhouse IP’s that most would expect(Purge, ToD, Get Out) probably aren’t happening. Hopefully Ouija can get sorted out since Ouija 2 has a lot to work with

Honestly, at the end of the day, I don’t care what it ends up being. As long as it’s a good house and has good scares. I have another 9 houses to look forward to, if it ends up being HDD.

Ok so after Surprise, it’ll be some order of Feature and Coach, before finishing with Ragtag, Poison and Meteor?

Assuming Oz comes to pass in some form, that would seem a lock for the tunnel.

I know Legacy said no Purge but after seeing The First Purge I have to say it will be a great IP to make a SZ, plus all SZ are announced.

Purge is only great when Uni copies the movies directly (When they create the exact costumes and exact things and props seen in the movies)

When they create their own characters and they make their own masks, it is not that great. (I say this because I go to the purge to see what was on the movies, not some original creations)
and some of the purge costumes that Uni makes are kind of too simplistic. like someone in regular clothes just wearing a mask.
that isn't that cool to see.
Im not hating on Uni or the purge but sometimes theiir purge just feels like a "Trick or Treater" kind of zone and not a zone related to the purge.

Even the Purge section in the Blumhouse movie was meant to be Ouija, and the other Purge house was meant to be scream

So basically you have two houses where the sets were not meant to be the purge and you have actors in costumes that never appeared in the movies roaming the scarezones.....

do you see my problem? lol.

There does not need to be a 3D house for the vortex tunnel to be used... Here's a few examples off the top of my head: Maximum Carnage used a different style in 2002, Interstellar Terror used in 2008, Horror Nights: Hallow'd Past used it in 2010

Yes, I do see your problem. You experienced The Purge in Orlando, instead of Hollywood where it is damn near perfect (minus Terror Tram in 2015 of course)... Hollywood has created original Purger masks/costumes that ended up being more popular than the ones from the films. And if you only go to see an exact duplicate of what was on the screen without some form of creativity, you'll never fully enjoy any IP at any haunt event. Purge Hollywood >>> Purge Orlando.

creativity is cool and all but look at trick or treat, they copied what was in the movie and didn't really create their own costumes or had people in different outfits than those from the movie,
And that zone is one of the greatest zones they have had in years. you got to see the school kids and got to see San and you got to see the 3 girls in their princess outfits and you got to see the two neighbor guys in their porches.... the zone had everything from the movie and it was really amazing to see in person

what is the point of using an IP if you aren't really gonna use what was on the screen?

It was just a more elaborate (and official) scarezone that was done in 2008... The Skoolhouse.. Last year's scarezone could've lived without the front doors. That is stuff that is meant for a house (like this year) not a tree-filled area of the park... and again, when it comes to a scarezone, it SHOULD be more on the creatively original side when dealing with an IP.

Because not everything seen on screen is always physically possible for a temporary theme park haunt event. An original creative take on an IP is ALWAYS going to be necessary on some level. It depends on the execution, but more importantly the scareactors to make or break the experience. (but even that applies to originals)

Last year's zone felt a bit too...how do you say...staged, for me

The 2008 one was clearly a Trick R Treat zone, but it felt more organic and simple...I liked it more tbh

^Exactly.

2008 gave the essence of Trick R Treat without an excessive amount of set details.
2017 just tried way too hard.

I think for HDD to work effectively they would need to repeat the same 2 to 3 rooms a few times ... So IDK if there would be much room for other properties

Yeah. They could do 2-3 rooms in the dorm, then the tunnel, hospital, surprise party, and then the sorority. Would fit the MiB Tent but could get repetitive since the scares would just be Tree, the Baby Mask Killer, that one serial killer in the hospital, and then her roommate

That's basically every slasher. Same thing different way.
