Discussion moves pretty fast ‘round these parts, but this is true. Vivendi, the French company that used to own Universal, kept the music arm after GE bought out their shares of the film/TV units. Unlike Warner, UMG retains the Universal brand identity, which can be confusing.

Most recently, Inside the Magic was able to leverage this when Aerosmith moved their catalog from Sony Music to UMG - “oh, no! Aerosmith moved their music to ‘Universal!’ How will this affect their Disney ride?”

Another thing: contrary to popular belief, the rights to Halloween still lie with Compass International Pictures, the production company that did the first movie and subsequent entries. No one’s bought them out!

Honestly I don't see Compass International Inc. really selling Michael Myers, Mustafa Akkad really protected Michael Myers for a lot of years up until his death and passed it down to his son. I think Michael unlike Freddy and Jason that are pretty much got a hold from a lot of people, might not be bought fully but doesn't mean other people don't wanna buy a stake in the franchise for example the new films.

Sound proof that the American Dream is still very much alive. I think it’s really inspiring, frankly, that the rights to what is essentially the blueprint to the last 40 years of horror belong to a multigenerational family of Middle Eastern immigrants.

The Akkads seem very passionate about the franchise and even Malek right now because Halloween has become a such a legendary property and a big legacy that many people that want to do their films have to go back and thank the original for having them sorta go different directions with it unless you're John Carpenter lol. He really wanted to go away from Michael and continue the franchise in a traditional Halloween style which would have worked as well but Michael became a cult classic.

I have an odd question. My friend brought up a good point. Do you think that we won’t get chainsaw scareactors in the streets this year due to the cost of gas? Granted I know it’s been a bit since we had them, and we might not have been getting them anyway, but think that cost of gas may be the nail in the coffin to it.

I hope we get them. They're the best part of the scare zones in my opinion.

Gas prices were up in 2008, 2011-14 and those years featured them

Granted, they're higher than they've ever been, but I'm not sure the overall cost of chainsaws would be too big of a blip on their radar

Considering other gas usage around the resort

Don't worry. Universal Orlando isn't the kind of park to cut essential features from their parks like trams and live entertainment, lollygag on the construction of new attractions while failing to maintain existing ones, then raising prices and making a big deal about it with massive fanfare when they bring back previously cut features that never should have left.

I literally can't imagine any major theme park doing that, really.

Only IPs left are Weekend and Evil Dead right? If Evil Dead is pulled just make it a Cabin in the woods sequel.

I think Purged is a better term (rest in pieces Scream and Ouija).

If so, then I'd think either Blumhouse will now just be Black Phone, or something happened with Weeknd.
