Stranger Things was a few weeks prior to DE2 (4/3 and 4/26). This is the first time we've gotten an original house as the lead announcement since 2010, I believe.

Right. This is pretty unprecedented.

It's also the first individual original house announcement since HHN Icons Captured. Shows you how highly they view Slaughter Sinema.

Isn't it awesome when we're surprised by something? Yes, I know this was rumored, but still! Nobody saw that this house would be announced first of all things.

Though when you think about it, this house was honestly perfect to announce at a fan convention considering how beloved the first one was. It's easily one of my all-time favorite houses, and I'm very much looking forward to this one!

I'm loving this rollout so far. Hot take probably, but the fact that announcements kept creeping earlier and earlier took away some of the charm of what was initially "announcement season". Having a shorter period of time where the hype levels are high is way more fun than long, drawn-out minimal levels of hype. Same reason why people can't stand things like year-long album/game/movie rollouts.

Agreed. They actually had some pretty wicked shirts back in 2018 but they had to be purchased through those kiosks they had in the tribute store. They were really well done though. I have a pumpkin guts and cannibals one.

The sense I get is that they needed/wanted something to talk about at the convention. Their participation was potentially a last minute thing as well (which is why that was announced last week).

Back when FNAF/NOES was rumored in February/March, this week (16 May) was the rumored announcement period. With neither of those happening, and contracted announcements for other IPs set for later, and now a convention, they had to adjust.

This! This makes soooo much sense. It’s awesome to see universal listening to their fans and bringing back a juggernaut original to discuss with said fans! Love they were able to surprise everyone even if this was so last minute!

Also the Mohawk biker guy that came out, is there any chance this character could be part of the icon this year? I’m not going as far to say he’s the icon, but interesting to see them bring any “character” out to show.

He just seems only to be a character from the Heavy Metal Hell 3D section of the Slaughter Sinema 2 house but looking at the merchandise, I feel like they probably had to use that design from something, it looks freaking killer.
