Just for discussions sake, is there a cultural reason for the crossover between horror and wrestling fans to the degree that it exists?

If I had to guess it’s because they both feature violence, are typically over the top/performative, and deliver a similar type of adrenaline rush.

Also one of the biggest names in ever in WWE (Undertaker) has a horror theme so the crossover between the two has developed a sort of “natural” feeling to it.

I believe I’ve read it’s not possible with the rights, but my dream would to be a Dr. Mary Agana/Bloody Mary return. HHN 18 was the one year if I had a time machine I would want to go back and visit.

Exactly. I for one, was very skeptical about a Weeknd house. It personally was not my favorite of the year, but certainly was more enjoyable than I thought it would be. Well I know much less about wrestling than I do music, I would be intrigued for a new IP to enter for fold. Maybe it doesn’t work. Maybe it does. But you don’t know unless you try. As others have said, I don’t see how it would be any different than an original where demonic wrestlers have taken over a wrestling company or something like that. And it seems like the perfect IP where if the actual IP falls through, they could go the original route and it would basically be the same house.

Leone was supposed to be at my local comic con. I planned to ask him if he could see his IP used in this format or if he would have an interest in it. But unfortunately, he had to cancel.

I for one didn’t enjoy the original. The second one seemed like it was finding its footing. By the third one, I think it found its groove. The third one was enjoyable. Regardless of whether you actually like the IP or not, I believe we can all agree that between all three movies, there is PLENTY of house material.

Pinhead on r/HHN is seemingly doubling down on Willys Wonderland, totally.

Males of a certain age. Put video games in that Venn diagram, too, gonna be a largely overlapping circle.

Honestly? If they have FNAF house ideas they can't use because Scott won't play ball, this is, by default the funniest option out there. The film was pretty fun also, definitely wouldn't mind if it was actually Willy (yes I'm aware they mean FNAF but still!).

The 80s were significant for all 3, so it makes sense.

Yeah, I bet a lot of Freddy/Jason fans were watching the Rock-n-Wrestling connection on MTV, and a lot of fans of The Blob knew who Gorgeous George was. These are long term cultural phenomena, just looked down upon as trashy by cultural historians so they don't get recorded. (I think other than Disneyland we could put theme parks in that category, albeit with a wider range of appeal).

The popularity of both horror and wrestling seems to run in cycles, and I am curious if those two cycles tend to sync up, but getting off-topic here for a house that is yet to be confirmed.

wrestlers in horror,
Tyler Mane was Michael Myers
They Live and Roddy Piper ( very memorable)
Diamond Dallas Page in devils rejects
triple H in blade Trinity
Kane was the main villain in see no evil
Bill Goldberg in Santa's slay
Chris Jericho Terrifier 2/3
rey mysterio was the body double for Freddy Kruger in Freddy vs Jason ( in the final fight)
David Arquette of SCREAM was also a wrestler for a while

Its always cool and funny to see wrestlers show up in horror movies, horror seems like an easy entry way for acting. specially as the villains.
(you can even add kind of add Dwayne Johnson in the mummy 2 Scorpion king, as kind of a horror acting job. or Jesse ventura in predator naybe)
WWE also produces horror movies like Leprechaun reboot and see no evil.

David Arquette is a WCW Champion. He briefly held the belt while promoting 8 Legged Freaks.

Just very random for them to mention Bloody Mary, they haven't tweeted about her since 2021. Hmmm.

I would love to know the last time a random HHN Twitter post actually aligned with a real announcement that occurred later.
