the TUBI tv free app has a much better selection of horror movies than Hulu or Netflix, there are so many older horror movies like WAXWORK or DAGON or all the Dark Shadows episodes
theres hundreds of movies if you search beyond the first page

Please watch Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror, it’s available on Prime until 11/1. I cannot recommend that one enough.

I didn’t even know that existed, but I’d love to see it!

I should say "listened to." It's a podcast interviewing several of the folks in Horror Noire. You can find it right in the Shudder app.

Did anyone finish 31 horror or Halloween-themed movies or TV shows for Halloween?? I’d love to see what you ended up watching, if so! Putting mine under a spoiler cut.

10/1: The Invisible Man...great movie, but difficult to watch. 5
10/2: The Witch in the Window...slow, quiet, really good ghost story. 4
10/3: The Autopsy of Jane Doe...creepy, but not my favorite. 3
10/4: The Babysitter...really fun. 4
10/5: Better Watch Out...I was annoyed until the final minute redeemed the whole movie. 4
10/6: Don’t Leave Home...quiet, weird, really good. 4
10/7: Witches in the Woods...it had its moments. 3
10/8: 47 Hours...it had no moments. 1
10/9: Bly Manor 1, 2...I thought the whole series was beautiful and sad, and perfectly splendid. 4
10/10: Bly Manor 3, 4
10/11: Bly Manor 5, 6
10/12: Bly Manor 7
10/13: Bly Manor 8, 9
10/14: Horror Noire...an amazing documentary on POC in horror, cannot recommend it enough. 5
10/15: Candy Corn...ugh, no. 1
10/16: Double, Double, Toil and Trouble...an absolute classic from my childhood. 5
10/17: The Lodge...this was really, really disturbing and took 2 nights to watch. 4
10/18: The Lodge
10/19: Behind You...creepy enough I guess. 2
10/20: The Wretched...better than I thought it’d be. 4
10/21: Malevolent...I just watched it cause I love Florence Pugh. 2
10/22: Trick r Treat...a quintessential Halloween classic. 5
10/23: Feedback...I’m still thinking about this one. 3
10/24: We Summon the Darkness...lots of fun and Taylor Swift’s brother is in it. 4
10/25: Hubie Halloween...could barely understand any of Adam Sandler’s dialogue, but the moral of the story was great. 4
10/26: Summer of ‘84...it was so, so suspenseful, loved it! 5
10/27: The Cleansing Hour...like if Saw and The Omen had a baby?? Idk. 3
10/28: I Trapped The Devil...um...was that the creepiest, eeriest, most unsettling movie I watched this whole month? Yes, it was. 5
10/29: Ready or Not...wasn’t in the mood for anything new and this movie is so good, so funny, I love it. 5
10/31: Hell House LLC...still not in the mood for something new, this one creeps me out and takes place at a Halloween haunt. 4
11/1: Black Christmas...the original is one of my all time favorites, the remake from ‘06 (?) sucked, but I loved this one. Plus, I’m so happy it’s finally Christmas. 5

I definitely got nowhere near watching 31 pieces of content but I got my wife to agree to start watching Haunting of Hill House. We’re 4 episodes in and enjoying it. It’s a no brainer to see this director make Doctor Sleep (which I highly recommend) after this story.

I also Horror Noire while it was on Prime. I loved it, but it has a little bit too much worship of Get Out because I still feel like there’s more progress to make, but good movies are good movies. It also has gotten me to put Blacula on my Amazon Prime watch list since it’s on there last I checked.

Based off of Legacy’s recommendation I got Summer of ‘84. I absolutely loved it. I’m a fan of Mad Men so the neighbor being played about one of the early season actors made me warm up to the movie. You really feel for the inner loves of each the kids outside of the plot they’re a part of during the story. Movie quality aside, which it is solid, the soundtrack is fantastic and my favorite part. It’s 80 movie synth as you remembered it but even better.

Crap, I just remembered a couple more fantastic little horrors.

“You Might Be The Killer”
“I’m Not a Serial Killer”

I also watched “The Wolf of Snow Hollow.” Not pure horror, but a good flick overall.

EDIT - And I can’t believe “The Final Girls” hasn’t been mentioned.

I really just need to make a list.

Not movies, but I did watch every Treehouse of Horror throughout October. And how fitting that the new one this year ended with a montage of every single segment they've done.

I don't disagree here, but to be fair, without Get Out, there's no Horror Noire documentary, as it kicked up the zeitgeist on black horror. I'd love an HN sequel, but I can't think of any major examples they missed out, except for the stuff that followed it.
