First of all, holy crap that video is amazing, and shows already the amount of the tone they are going for in this year's HHN.

Second, this is a landmark move for properties and HHN, and that the fact Universal got what is the biggest Netflix Original as of now, is huge. And to do it in a way like this, brings all kinds of really fascinating hopes and dreams.

Can't wait to see what Murdy and Williams does for the maze and IP, as it can't be screwed up.

EDIT: Here is the Hollywood version of said video.

Gotta say, beyond being hyped for Stranger Things, it makes me REALLY happy that the leaked lineup wasn't total nonsense. Bring on 2018!

The Orlando blogpost says that it will be based on S1, the location the leaked lineup said it would be in makes a lot more sense now

The Orlando blog post only mention stuff from season 1 will be in the House, I’m holding out hope that ours has stuff from both seasons because if not, why would they not do it last year.

This house alone, good or bad, makes up for all the setbacks that happened in 2017/27. Easily my #1 most anticipated of the year; can’t wait to see the Christmas Lights and the Portal.

This is a property I am incredibly mixed on. I will say the video was fantastic.

The thing about this property is that it has problems with all 3 critiques to make a good Maze or perhaps Universal Hollywood has a problem. Characters, Sets, and Scares.

The only character I can think of is the Demogorgon and this could result in a overusage of that character. Where as there other characters that they can do but seeing the past I see Hollywood over using the Demogorgon.

The Scares are a big problem. This could be a Maze with terrible scares due to the lack of scares in the Show. But I could totally be proven wrong. There have been mazes in the past that have proven me wrong. But it's also where they place the Scares as well. That really matters.

The Sets. Stranger Things has sets but Hollywood doesn't like to do Sets. This is a property where they could get lazy and just paste black walls in the Upside Down. Which I hope doesn't happen.

I hope the Maze can get all three right. I'm excited for it but nervous. There are so many ways they can screw this up. But I'm sure Universal is smart enough that they won't screw up their biggest property (debatable) this year.

“Stranger Things” Comes to Life at Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights

Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights Enters an Alternate Dimension with the Highly-Anticipated Arrival of Netflix’s Original Series “Stranger Things” as All-New Supernatural Mazes

Award-winning Sci-Fi Thriller Comes to Life for the First Time Ever at Premier Halloween Events in Hollywood, Orlando and Singapore

Click Here for a Sneak Peek at the Upside Down Terror

Universal City, CA, Orlando, FL, April 3, 2018 – For the first time ever, Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Singapore are partnering with Netflix to bring “Stranger Things” to life at this year’s “Halloween Horror Nights” events. Fans of the series will get the chance to brave the Upside Down and confront the supernatural as each park debuts all-new mazes inspired by season one of the critically-acclaimed series.

The parallel universe, referred to as the Upside Down that terrorized the small town of Hawkins, Indiana in Netflix’s mega-hit “Stranger Things,” will bring the chittering, predatory Demogorgon to “Halloween Horror Nights” to stalk unwitting guests as they encounter iconic scenes, characters and environments from the mesmerizing series.

Working collaboratively with Netflix, along with the creators and executive producer of the blockbuster series—Matt Duffer, Ross Duffer and Shawn Levy, the mazes at Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Singapore will be authentic representations of “Stranger Things,” designed to transport guests into artfully recreated scenes and storylines. From the menacing Hawkins National Laboratory, under the U.S. Department of Energy, to the Byers home adorned with an erratic display of flashing Christmas lights and the eerie Upside Down woods oozing a shower of floating orb-like spores, the chilling new mazes will offer surprising twists and unexpected turns around every corner.

Universal Studios’ “Halloween Horror Nights” is the ultimate Halloween event. For more than 25 years, guests from around the world have visited “Halloween Horror Nights” to become victims inside their own horror film. Multiple movie-quality mazes based on iconic horror television shows, films and original stories come to life season after season. And, the streets of each park’s event are transformed into highly-themed scare zones where menacing scare-actors lunge from every darkened corner.

Halloween Horror Nights begins Friday, September 14 in Hollywood and Orlando and on Friday, September 28 in Singapore. Additional details about the events will be revealed soon. Select tickets and vacation packages for Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights are on sale now. For more information about “Halloween Horror Nights” at Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Orlando Resort or Universal Studios Singapore, visit www.HalloweenHorrorNights.com.

I’m incredibly worried about this as well. I could see Orlando knocking this out of the park, but I’m very nervous for Hollywood’s adaption. Hopefully this doesn’t end up like Roanoke last year I’d hope we don’t see too much Demogorgan(like the Pigman). And as for characters, they could easily have:

- Eleven
- Hazmat Lab Workers
- Hopper
- Papa
- Joyce with the lights
- Maybe Barb?(fan service)

Edit: YES THEYRE GONNA HAVE THE UPSIDE DOWN ASH!!!!!

Jesus, this is huge. Not only does this mean that Universal gets a major new headliner (possibly for years to come), this also means that Orlando could end up getting a Stranger Things ride in the future (ET replacement? Uni South?). After all, it's probably the only horror franchise that could adapt well into a theme park setting.

As much as I didn't want this to come, I'm really glad this is just based off of S1 as I hated S2 with a passion.

I loved S2, but I will say I have spoken to a few who were turned off by S2 to justifiable reasons.

Yep, I knew it. S1 only, and I'm not upset about that. Given that if it's in WW, being that it's a tad of a tight spot, that should give the set designers the capability of fitting in various locations from the first season: the forest, the Byers house, upside down rooms. I knew the demigorgon would have to be reacurring creature for the maze. I honestly won't be surprised if little to no mentions of the main kids are made in there and instead, like I mentioned in the past, they decide to focus solely on the horror component, not the nostalgic parts.

I am trying to word it the best way I can, but @AliciaStella has a good sum up of what the hell this really boils down too.

AliciaStella said:
I once worked on a movie years ago that was pitched to Troma Films for distribution. They didn't pick it up but at one of our meetings they said Trey Parker watched parts of it when he visited recently and got a kick out of it. Next season of South Park had a 4-episode story arc lifted straight out of our film. We got a lawyer, threatened legal action. Nothing. Wasted lots of money and time. That's the way of the world. No hard feelings though. Still love South Park. It's just hard to prove an idea or concept was yours first and that you deserve to claim ownership to it.

And nothing in that short film in the article above leads me to believe they would win this case either. The government testing thing isn't even explicitly discussed in the film. Even if they pitched that to the Duffers, it's such a common trope and story device that I doubt it matters anyway.
