I hope that being familiar with these IPs improves my experience in these mazes. I did not watch a slow season of FDTD to get a "meh" maze!

From Jonathan: American Werewolf in London is very impressive.

Oh my god that's a good 10 to 15 min walk. How are they corralling this? Is there security every block or so? How is production remotely okay with this?

Probably someone trying to save costs for tram drivers/gas.

Less money to spend and crowd pacing for sure. That bums me out. Last year, the walk from Transformers to the Backlot Tram loading area was long enough. Now we have to walk all the way to the Metropolitan sets? Gimme a break!

Probably saving money on gas and tram drivers that they'll use for the Express Trams to F&F next year :P

I've walked it and all through the backlot in camo gear in the summer heat, middle of day so it won't be a big deal for me but yea this is pretty odd.

*Shameless advertising*

Ok, so today and tomorrow; the youtube Channel of DeathByIllusion will be uploading walkthroughs of all the mazes. Now, he has already released a video of the opening scaremonies of The Purge which to me, that's the best opening to HHN since they started the Scaremonies.

It could also be due to crowd control. It's a tradeoff between being bottle-necked by trams or having a continuous (though long) stream of guests walking from the Lower Lot to the Metropolitan Sets.

Everyone is telling me how AVP and AWiL are the best mazes HHN has ever created. Period. I'm way more excited for this Friday.

Also, I've heard overall mixed reviews of Dracula and FDTD, but lots of people liked FDTD and I liked El Cucuy when everyone hated it. I think they'll end up being good.

I think Universal will realize the mistake of having no shows pretty soon.

My spoiler free mini review of HHN 2014:

My favorite mazes from favorite to least favorite:

1. American Werewolf in London

2. Alien vs. Predator

3. Dracula Untold

4. From Dusk Till Dawn

5. The Walking Dead

6. Clowns 3D

7. Terror Tram

8. Face/Off

American Werewolf in London and Alien vs. Predator are by far and away two of the more enjoyable mazes that Murdy and his team have designed. The Werewolves, Predators and Aliens look spectacular. Dracula Untold was a surprise for me, probably due to the fact that I went in with low expectations. That was the one maze that I felt had the most scare factor to it. From Dusk Till Dawn was interesting, because I've never seen the movie or TV show I had no idea what to expect in the maze, except that I was walking into a "strip joint".  Clowns 3D was the weakest maze of the new original mazes (not including Face/Off aka HOH). I don't remember anything about the music that was written and performed by Slash. In regards to the Terror Tram, there's not much to say except, it's the Terror Tram. There is nothing new in this tired part of the event. the lack of originality really shows in this part of the event. Now my least favorite maze...Face/Off music by Wub Wub (or whatever that annoying music is). For the most part nothing from House of Horrors had been removed, except for one scene, which I won't spoil for anyone. The lights and music were almost nausiating. I hope they never bring back this type of maze again.

The Scare Zones were interesting. I loved Dark Christmas and Mask-a-Raid. The Purge: Anarchy was pretty much the same as last year and Skullz (aka dumb) was just two people walking on stilts (yawn).

One cool collectable you can buy at the event and during the daytime is a Chucky pin. It sells for $12.95. They only made 1,000 of these pins and 500 of them went to Orlando. So get the while you still can.

I have three major problems with this years event. 1) The lack of shows will truly hurt the crowds and you will feel it in the longer waits for the mazes. 2) The horrific walk you have to make to and from Transformers- The Ride to the Metro sets. You should wear your most comfortable shoes. I made a mistake in not doing that. I hope that Managment realizes that this was a mistake and they rectify that ASAP. 3) One specific gag was used in five of the seven mazes. I won't say what it was but you'll notice it in each of the mazes. After the third time I saw the gag, I was thinking "Someone ran out of ideas."

It'll be an interesting year and I'll be curious to hear everyones thoughts about HHN 2014. I hope you all have a blast and remember WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES!!!!!

Definitely glad that Dracula Untold was an underdog this year. Definitely mad that Skullz consists of two stilt-walkers.

Reading some of HHN's Facebook comments/replies provides some interesting insight... Apparently guests with the VIP package will be escorted to the Backlot mazes by a guide. Could this mean that those who pay extra don't have to get there by foot, or will they still be walking?

I find it quite amusing people are bitching about walking 0.34 of a mile.

Its a longer walk to parkhop from DCA main gate to the entrance of Space Mountain at Disneyland.

Its not a long walk.

It's a boring walk so it seems longer to people. Walking through Main Street and Tomorrowlamd with constant visual stimulation makes the walk seem so much shorter IMO.

It's long boring ten minute walk, and it's probably even longer for people considering this what they'll be hitting up first. From the Purge scarezone to the Walking Dead maze, that has to be some lengthy journey for most guests.

It's one of the downsides to this year's event, in addition to there being no shows. Just another thing for guests to complain about.

Heard good reviews for Orlando's Bill and Ted. Sigh.

Anyone going for opening night tomorrow?
