It looks like a 1950's sci-fi nuclear insect to me... the eyes look like a fly. It is certainly a highly stylized concept. All they need is the drive in theater at DHS and they would be all set.

Doesn't this whole mini golf have that 50s style about it, or what the future looked like in the 50s, sort of a Jetsons style?

yeah i couldn't believe my eyes that it was right out in public view.

on a side note does anyone think us Premier AP holders should get a free round or rounds? i mean obviously all AP holders will get a discount.

i'm just excited for citywalk to get an attraction.

For those that could not see what I was talking about... here is the bug eye...

Also, I believe the scene is that the bug has already devoured its way through part of a building (right). Note that the window of the building is slightly askew. Might be a drive-in diner. :look:

Might have more than those three eyes?

Hopefully I'll be able to go to Uni this weekend. I'm excited to see what progress they're making.

Aahh, my bad then. I wonder what that huge round area will be... did you notice. Too, what are the white bars sticking out of the back? Legs or wings?

I'll take a stab at this one and see if I'm right?

Since they are covered I would say they are the finished product which would mean they are just hairs.
Howd I do jh3s488?

I'm looking forward to playing these courses. Pirates and water themes can only go so far before being over played.

Update from Orlando Sentinel-

Picture it: Construction of Hollywood Drive-In Golf at Universal Orlando

Hollywood Drive-In Golf, two miniature golf courses under construction at Universal CityWalk, is beginning to take shape at Universal Orlando.

uputt-1.jpg

The overall theme will be cinematic, with one course being sci-fi in nature (“Invaders from Planet Putt”) and the other themed on the horror genre (“The Haunting of Ghostly Green”). This structure, on the Bubba Gump side of the parking garage crosswalk, sure looks futuristic robot to me.

uputt-2.jpg

uputt-3.jpg

The outlines and structures of other holes are appearing down below.

uputt-4.jpg

On the other side, adjacent to the cineplex, appears to be the entrance/exit for the courses.

uputt5.jpg

From the moving sidewalk heading into CityWalk, a form in the center dominates. Lots of conversation in that stretch as to what we’re looking at on the cineplex side. It appears to have an entrance on the far right, perhaps a mouth to something … something perhaps with three eyes … a hippo or an alligator or a giant worm? A kid near me suggested it was an igloo. UPDATE: This just in — Universal officials says it’s a “giant space worm” and part of the sci-fi course.

uputt6.jpg

That mouth is a little more clear in this shot (pardon the shadows).

uputt7.jpg

Finally, a little perspective from the second level of CityWalk. That’s the course entrance at bottom left, and the giant space worm is the gray blob behind it. Hollywood Drive-In Golf is scheduled to open “early next year,” Universal Orlando officials have said.

What do you guys think of the theming so far?
