It was
really wild seeing the gradual teardown of HRRR during HHN34.
That path behind the Soundstages towards FNAF and WWE felt so eerie. Functionally, it was no different to the path between FFL and the New Tents. No theming, no music, just fences and asphalt. In constrast, the lack of music here meant silence, and instead of back-of-house buildings, you had views of these giant metal structures all ripped and torn apart. Large scrap piles of twisted Red metal. Swaths of sand, lined with the tracks of the vehicles responsible.
It's just not something you regularly see, and combined with the atmosphere of HHN, it all felt ... deathly, in a way. It was like witnessing a majestic and macabre whalefall play out slowly over two months, until all that was left of this behemoth is some loose metal scraps, concrete footers, and the murals surrounding it.
I say slowly, but much like a whalefall, that's only at a certain time-scale. This huge towering structure was taken down gradually, piece by piece, bite by bite. But it all went down so fast. By the final night, there was nothing left but the creases in the sand and dirt where it once was.
It's something that we'll likely not see happen at HHN again for decades, if ever. I appreciated it a lot while it lasted.
